A New Poll (for everyone)
I thought perhaps, now that the mini is done ... a more appropriate poll could be taken...

I say go both...but my personal mission will be to bash militant old-school fanboys until they bleed and/or recognize the mini as a GOOD show that has POTENTIAL.

keep in mind the above poll answers may be creatively slightly sarcastic , but it is intended to be FUN, and by no means offend anyone! ( i just re-read and thought the "dead-horse" may be seen as harsh ... but it was intended to be taken lightly) There is an answer for all positions though ...

I have to admit that's funny.
I thought Fanboys of any kind were bad but now they are militant? LOL.
I wanted to vote for number two but I don't get the bipolar schizo thing.

Meet militant who lives on lightship. : heheheehee I love the new smilies!
Sorry, we had to lighten that up somehow.
Spectre: respect that others have opinions different than yours and it's OK, this is America. If we didn't respect your right to yours, there wouldn't be a pro-mini forum here or even a mini forum at all. If you don't like it here try www.subspacebbs.com , I'm serious, they are good folks there, though I've not looked to see what their post-mini viewing reaction was.

Just out of curiosity, if the comment were this:
"I say go both...but my personal mission will be to bash militant new-school fanboys until they bleed and/or recognize the original as a GOOD show that had POTENTIAL."
... would you expect moderator intervention at the implied disrespect and intolerance?
Just asking.

Thats more then a little inflamitory.
Lets say fans of the original are just fans of the original.
And lets not beat them either.
I like most of them.

Right. I was just asking Spectre if the comment sounded appropriate going the other way.
BTW, Hi, Hito!!! I'm so glad you're back! I've had to give Tommy grief all by myself.

Spectre,
One of the reasons people get their guards up when they hear comments like that is because it's an old "Milton" tactic.
Ted spent an entire year trying to get something many fans hate and get them to embrace it. First it was the prequel poll. Then it was BSGBountyhunter's ridiculous "sidestory". Then there were the notions that either Richard Hatch approved the miniseries (because he liked the videogame) or that Richard Hatch's problems with the miniseries were that he didn't get a big role in it and that his endorsement would ensure that TOS fans would like it. The entire campaign bult around making people love something they found unloveable.
Felgercarb.
I respect people who want to watch or like the Ron Moore Battlestar Galactica miniseries. I've read the script, I read the reviews, and until I have seen it, I'm actually prepared to like it. (I may feel radically differently when I see it folks... but I really want to see it for myself).
But one of the things I abhor is when people (or rather, one troublemaking individual) claim to like the miniseries, and then urge others to either give the miniseries a chance, or alternatively, to change their evaluation of it. Or if that doesn't work, thorow a few potshots at the TOS fans for their nostalgia. This is what makes me wonder what the motives are. In your case, the comment about making the miniseries look good to TOS fans raised my internal flags.
I think what we need to do is respect difference of opinion. Some people like it. Other people don't. There's no necessity to try to change people's minds, especially at this point. The point of this forum (the miniserires-positive forum) is discuss the miniseries in a friendly atmosphere. It is the Colonial Fleets equivalent of Subspace G2003. To the hard-core miniseries opponents (and there are more than a few here), I advise against inflammatory posts. And to the rest - please - for the love of Kobol - don't ask these same people to "give it a chance". It will just bring back bad memories.

I Agree Totally
I think trying to convert others to your opinion (especially when they have made it clear that they are firmly opposed to it) is like having someone throw peas on your plate and insist that you "just try them" when you know you that you never will.
Of course, down the road, you may try peas on your own and decide you don't hate them quite as much as you thought, but you'll never get to that point with someone shoving them down your throat muttering "you'll like the way I fix them..."
Well, that's my strange little "peas" metaphor...

Why would he turn in his grave? he was the STAR of Galactica 1980. I think he did all of his turning over 20 years ago while asleep in his own bed.

I was told I'm wacked, so...seeing how one of the choices was schizophrenia, that's the one I checked off
btw, Spectre, Colonial Fleets was gracious in giving us this forum, it would be nice if we could return the favor and not become annoying to the hard working people who make all this possible. We're guests here, some respect is called for.

I have no problem with both ideas going forward, but I doubt that both could prosper so I prefer the current version to the Pegasus idea that's being floated around....it looks so weak.

This is why I say go forward with both. I like the mini and want to see it turn into a series, but I don't think anyone can ever replace Benedict as Starbuck. I'd like to see him reprise that role.
