Ironic Angel comment on Disney Muppets purchase
I'm not a fan of Disney. As a former worker and seeing alot of nasty behind the scenes from that corporation I really lost my respect for the magic kingdom.
This morning I awoke and read the newspaper. I read that Disney has purchased all the muppet character that the Jim Henson company owns. I've always liked Kermit, Miss Piggy, etc cause they always felt less markety. They were on alot of merchandise, but it didn't feel like a cold grab to make money. Jim Henson's company always seem to put children first, profitability second.
So I was dismayed when I saw they were bought out by Disney. Now all the muppets, except those that are owned by Sesame Street are now Disney property.
Oddly....
That night on Angel, the dark brooding vampire with a soul show...
Muppets are now evil. They are appearing on tv and sucking the life out of children literally as they watch Smile Time muppet show.
And worse yet... they turned Angel into a muppet!
Beware when Muppets strike!!!!!

okies that was interesting. I heard that the Sesame Street muppets weren't part of the deal or was it reported wrong?

Sesame Street is its own seperate company. So it is independent from Jim Henson Productions. They would have to make a seperate deal for Bert, Ernie, Big Bird and those characters.
Ya know, I really probably shouldn't let my views of Disney leak out so much. I can really say some bitter stuff about them.

However,
I too am sorry that Disney has such a monopoly on children's ICONS.

The children of Jim Henson are very business savy. They sold the Muppets to a German company for $160 million, then last year were able to buy it back for $88 million. Here is the link to the deal they made with Disney https://www.muppetcentral.com/news/2004/021704.shtml
FYI: The Henson family retain ownership of the Jim Henson Shop and other characters.
