Firefly beats Enterprise for Emmy
The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in their Creative Arts Emmy Awards gave the nod to Firefly over Enterprise, Sept 13 2003.
Enterprise was up for 5 emmy nominations, didn't get a single one.
But the highly underated scifi Firefly beat out all comers for the Oustanding Visual Effects Emmy for their "Serenity" episode.
Serenity was originally suppose to be the series premeire pilot. But network execs canned the episode because it wasn't filled with enough gunfights and action. They literally gave the show creaters one weekend to come up with a new episode for the premeire. One weekend to write the opening show! Sadly the results of this decision created the poorly received Train Robbery episode which turned off many viewers and led to FOX not giving sufficient commercial time to the show to keep it alive.
Unbelievably, Serenity ended up as the last aired episode.
FOX aired the pilot LAST.

I'm still waiting to see the 3 unaired episodes of Firefly, they are going to be released on the DVD set later this year. And there is talk of a feature length movie with Universal. Fox had a good product and didn't know what to do with it.

Ah, they probably did, but I expect the production company or the produce of the show didn't let them exercise complete creative control over it. Fox tends to react badly when that happens. They moved Futurama around the schedules and then cancelled it because Matt Groening wouldn't let them make it more "appealing". NBever mind that it's ludicrously popular in DVD sales...
I get the feeling any scifi show beginning with F is pretty much doomed to an early grave. Farscape, Firefly, Futurama...

Artemis- I got the script to the Heart of Gold which is the very last one. For awhile it was available for a free download at teh firefly site. I think they killed the link.
It has a spoiler at the end that you may not want to read, but if you want I can email a copy to ya.

Hello Artemis, Fox did not start off Firefly with Wheldon's opening episode, go figure? (they are in charge of NASA, too)
A no brainer here, Enterprise is as exciting as paint drying.
Josh Wheldon at least had an ORIGINAL idea.
Berman & Braga are coasting on Roddenberry,Shatner,Nimoy,Kelly,Stewart & Brooks. Hell even Ronald D. Moore wrote some good Trek. Last time I hit rewind on Enterprise was when Linda Park lost her jersey/blouse/shirt?

I was disappointed when I saw the episode that Fox aired first. I had seen scenes from the original pilot episode at comic-con during a Joss Whedon presentation. It told you so much about the characters and why they were on Serenity. It would have given the show a much better start if they had just stuck with the original schedule.
Oh well.

Thanks for the script offer but I think I will wait. The DVDs are coming out Dec. 9 and if I had the script I wouldn't be able to not spoil the ending for myself.

https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...v=glance&s=dvd
It lists for $50 but amazon is selling it for $35 with free shipping. Totalled the series is 15 hours I believe. The last three episodes were never aired.

Firefly did turn out to be better
than I had first expected. It was a different take on how to do a space show. I think you guys were right, given a chance, it probably would have found its legs and gone onto to be a very good series.

I saw that. I expected that to happen though which is
"WHY" I didn't watch the "EMMYS" By the way .........
"ENTERPRISE" is supposed to have a 'sexy' new slant to it.
Don't you just HATE reimaginings? I really don't think
that Gene Roddenberry would be happy about that at all.
