Default Thanks everyone...

As I just posted at CA ...it's been fun, but I've just made my last two statements on the boards. I can't agree with the hatred and bitterness flying around. I won't deny anyone the right to express themselves as the will, just express my hope that they don't focus on that so much, and do my own thing. I think it's time for me to sign off, fandom wise. You all know where to reach me, and I'll be glad to help with anything that needs done, but the atmosphere lately is bringing me down.

Peace out, and take care,

Michelle

Michele my post at CA was a quote from the original series, "I hate it with every fiber of my existence."

Adama: Forgive me Mr president but they hate us with every fiber of their existence.

Michelle,

I am truly sorry to read this and I wish this didn't have to happen. Actually, it doesn't - that's the sad part. Mind you, I'm not saying this to dispute your reasons for leaving online fandom. Your thoughts are very well-considered and given the circumstances, I agree with them. I just wish that it didn't have to happen.

For far too long, there have been those who have felt that the only way to ensure a continuation of the Original show is to have the absolute destruction of the New show. Why? Because the Original show was better? Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. Whatever the reasons are that folks want the Original show to return, there are equal reasons that folks who like the New show, want it to stay. Are one group of folks desires more important than those of another?

I would very quickly reply: NO.

That reply, mind you, is coming from someone who is firmly entrenched in the desire to see the Original show return. I have gone on record more times than I care to count, how much I disagree with the direction that Moore took the New show. Does that mean that I want to see other folks' pleasure denied, just because I don't care for the show? No. I don't have that right. All that I have is the right to express WHY the Original show is as important to me, as it is, and why I want to see its eventual return. My hope is that through these efforts, I can enlist the understanding, and possibly, the appreciation of others, as to why it is important to me. It's a simple concept called mutual respect.

We have lost a great deal, as a fanbase, because this simple concept has not been applied. That's sad, too, because it's not a new invention. Many of us apply it in our day-to-day dealings with other real-life issues. Why not with this show? Equally as sad is that, in the end, it will be the bitterness and hatred that spells our demise, not the New show.

Michelle, I will appeal to you to reconsider and to give the fanbase one last chance to redeem itself. I believe it is possible but, only if equal effort comes from all. It can't be half-hearted and it can't be for show. It has to be genuine.

Thanks, everyone. This has been building up for awhile. It was heartbreaking to put so much work into Galacticon- over a year of solid work for me- and get so little response. I've tried to help with other projects since then, only to see them drowned out by the negativity. I see ten, twenty angry and hostile threads for every one about the original show, its' good points, and a positive continuaton. I need to focus on positive things for awhile.

For anyone who wants it, my msn is micheleh45@hotmail.com.

I can appreciate that, Michelle.

Keep in mind, the door is always open and, as they say in the commercial, "we'll leave a light on for ya!"

Dear Micheleh, it makes me so sad to see you go, and I wish somehow I could take your pain and disappointment on myself so you could feel free and happy about Bsg again. I have seen /so many/ wonderful, long time Bsg fans walk away, and it hurts me each and every time.

I think if there is really another life somewhere, we are all sipping ambrosia in a retro Bsg cafe with smiles all around, in the life we should have had...

You will always be welcome here...
Affectionately,
Muffit

I really know how you feel about the negativity. I understand the grief everyone feels, and sympathize. But I feel like I'm drowning in negative posts too. Also have thought of leaving too. Still weighing it. But really, its soooo much negativity to read everyday. I think its gotten better this last week. But The people who hate the new show are so vocal, andn so need to express it...over and over...

Every day a forum about galactica is negative.

Everyday more negativity.

Over and over.

....

It makes you feel like you're suffocating. Yeah...people have the right to say it. But its burning people out. And its shrinking and killing the size of the fanbase.

I really understand how you feel hun. I see it happen over and over.

I want to be happy too.

Michelle -

It does make me very sad to see you leave us. I know that there aren't words to get you to change your mind, but I wanted to let you know that you will be sorely missed. I don't know you directly, but we've interacted a few times in posts and even one or two PMs, but I got the feeling that you were someone I would get along with in real life.

I didn't go to Galacticon, but when it comes to all your hard work of you, Richard and anyone else that made it come together - it wasn't wasted. I know that the turnout wasn't what you thought it would be, but I know that the people that did go enjoyed every minute of it and wouldn't have passed on the experience for anything. I bought the Con DVD and you could see how people enjoyed themselves - it's also quite rare that anyone would put together a DVD of a con to make some part of the experience available to those that couldn't go.

When it comes to BSG fandom, there are times that the negativity does get wearing - even if people are just trying to express themselves. If one person does it, it's pretty easy to handle on a personal level, but when a large group of people do it and don't seem to want to let go of their dissapointment, it can be very overwhelming - especially over a long period of time. I don't know how I manage it sometimes - in real life, I tend to soak up what goes on around me, but on a BBoard, it's just words. Sometimes dissappointing and frustrating, but just words.

Why do I stay around BSG fandom? Is it the hope that we will get a Continuation film? Is it the hope that TNS is or isn't successful? Nope! The main reason that I hang out here at Fleets and Cylon Alliance is because of the people. People that I've never met, but feel very close to just the same. I wouldn't trade those friendships for much of anything - there are some dark days, when it feels like that's what keeps me going. That may sound sad to some, but I think it's a pretty wonderful thing myself.

I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors and that you find some time to stop by and visit. We won't forget you and I hope you do the same.

Arrivederci bella!

Best always,
Bryan

Micheleh....

I am very sad to see that you have decided to step away from Fandom. I can't say that I have really seen a lot of hatred or bitterness here at Fleets, but then again it is the only Community I am a member of.

I hope that you will drop by once in a while, and maybe even say hello or contribute when something takes your fancy.....Like everyone has said, you're very welcome here....

I hope that this isn't our last contact....

Peace and take care to you too.....Ernie90125
