I have a little story for you, hope you have a moment. It's about the city. The unbelievably wacky city. But let me say I was born and raised in a rural area (with a cow pasture just a hundred feet away), and am back in one now (minus the cow pasture). But for my few teenage years and twenties I was in that awfullest of places, the city. And I would rather get a rectal root canal than go back there
.
We live in a crazy mixed up world and things happen that sometimes make us scratch our collective cowlicks in wonder. So you may well imagine that, when our city had this terrible nexus of 3 huge freeways and myriad on-ramps in one inconceivably convoluted spot, someone needed to come up with a solution. They must have thought for months. At last, they had an answer and implemented it.
The geniuses of our society erected this humongous bright yellow sign at the juncture of the insanity with one simple word in tremendous black letters:
WEAVE
That was it. That was the brainstorm solution. I can tell you truthfully it has given me hours and hours of comical relief over the years.
This lesson taught me that we should never settle for minimalist solutions. We should always strive for the best we can do in spite of the hill in front of us. Battlestar Galactica was never meant to be a "this is good enough" remake. We have such a tremendous potential here -- why can't we make it the best it can be? Can't you see the possibilities? Don't you
/want/ 60 million viewers? When someone conjures up a great solution, like a continuation or prequel, everyone is the better for it. Sponsors, fans, and producers.
PLEASE show us the wonder you are capable of.
We don't want to weave.
