If by some chance our efforts do not succeed in changing the course of the Battlestar Galactica mini-series, someday, someone may make a documentary on the effort that was and the failure that resulted.
One of these is opening at theaters this weekend. The new movie, "Lost in La Mancha," is the story of Terry Gilliam's effort to make a movie about Don Quixote and the "carnage" that resulted, forcing production to shut down after only one week. Of course, knowing Terry Gilliam, he may have actually wanted to produce a film disaster movie and used the Don Quixote story as the backdrop.
We know the SciFi Channel wants to capitalize on the Battlestar Galactica name for some quick ratings, but maybe there is another agenda. After the brief ratings spike from their cheap effort, they can get another ratings bump with Ms. Hammer's planned BG remake disaster documentary!
"There's no shortage of disaster stories in the history of film production, but none have been recorded with such frankness, immediacy and aching sense of disappointment as in Lost in La Mancha… entertaining and instructive... a tantalizing memorial."
