Default I just bought some Galactica stuff

Well you never know what a yard sale or flea market may turn up.
I was at a huge one today and just when I thought that I was going away empty handed, something caught my eye. Not only did I see the full collection of 72 Galactica trading cards but there was another Galactica card Collection there too.

A foil set by Dart and that's all I know about the second set besides the fact that I paid for it double the price of the first set. I was cut a deal and maybe they are not even worth what I paid but I will add them to my collection , with such Galactica things like the board Game, the Coloring book, 5 or 6 of the full books, comics and a kids plastic wallet that I use to have when I was a kid , Just to name a few . lol

I seen an old sci fi mag there with Galactica in it and I'm kicking my but for passing it up. Oh well, at least the cards are nice to have.

OWD,

I have some of the Dart BSG chase cards spare. Get in touch if you would like to see if we can try to sort anything out !

It's a good set, although the Rittenhouse set is better !

I have the full Rittenhouse 72 card set and the Dart set . Supposably, I have all of them too but I'm not sure how many are in that set. Not much info on the net about the Dart set or at least were I was looking. I bought them as complete sets but unless you know all about them and count them on the spot, one really can't tell.

There is even a wraper in the Rittenhouse set.

Dear OWD,

There are two different things meant by the word 'set'

You have the basic sets. All card sets should be divisable by 9, and the Dart set is indeed a 72 card set. (As is the Rittenhouse set)

However, there are also the chase sets.

Chase cards are inserted every X number of packs (anywhere from 1 card every 20 packs, to one card every 10,000 packs) These cards are much rarer.

The Dart set is comprised of the following :

72 card basic set
6 card Gold Foil Aliens subset (GF1-6)
4 Foil BigBoy (postcard sized) Box Topper cards (BB1-4)
1 TallBoy Mail-in Card (TB-1)
1 Case Topper Autograph (Richard Hatch) Card (Limited to 500)
Ultra Rare UnSigned Hatch Auto card also available.
2 Promo Cards.
1 Convention Card.
1 Binder + Mini Art Print card.

I have spares of some of these if you are really interested, but it depends on how much you really want to collect this set !!!!

Further to this set, there were two cards made for the model sets (one of a Viper, and one of some Cylons)

6 further cards were also made and inserted into the videos issued in the UK,

However, whilst strictly speaking these cards were made at the same time, by the same people, they are not acknowledged in the same places....a thing for the completists...

The 6 cards in the VHS videos are postcard sized and carry Ralph MacQuarrie artwork (as featured in the 'concepts' section of the extras in the PS2/XBox game). I'm not sure how much thought was put into producing them - one image was used twice in the set!

Ernie, which issue of the model sets had the cards? (Am I thinking about the same thing - the Revell-Monogram kits?)

All the best,
Ian W359

Dear Ian_W359,

You're right about the video cards - not too impressive ! And one of the designs was used twice (the second time it was used it was flipped so the raiders were flying in a different direction, and the colour reduced)

The text on the back of the postcards were also inconsistant amongst the 6 postcards.

The two other cards were issued with the Revell-Monogram model sets.

One of those cards show several Cylons - if you happen to have one of this card please get in touch....

I would comment that a lot of work was put into the Dart set, but it had many many little things not quite right overall. But it is a good set to collect..... Just not as good as the Rittenhouse set....

I have the US re-issue Galactica & Base-Star and the European re-issue Viper & Raider, and I don't think that my kits came with a card. Was it the US issue Viper & Raider?

All the best,

This is where it becomes a bit sketchy. The card was only included 'as long as stocks last' There is no record that I know of to say where it was included, or for how long...

I know it does exist, because I have seen it....

It is quite hard to track down, as I think a model collector wouldn't nessesarily keep the card, as they are two different collecting hobbies... Which is why it is hard to track down.

If found the other model card in a box of junk cards sitting on the edge of a table at a fair, and bought it for next to nothing. Because it didn't look like one the chase cards it was mistaken for a basic card and worth only 10p !

But the Cylon card has escaped me so far !
