Mini-series costumes...UGH! Please fix!
https://www.jfcasting.com/bgpofthemonth.html
1. Green costumes with brown vest are the costumes that Viper pilots wear like Jamie Bamber.
2. Brown costumes are bridge crew
3. Yellow and red is maintenance crew.
Top Gun in Space anyone?

I dont like it...
I can see where they were trying to keep a feeling of the original uniforms with the darker shoulder pads.
The flightsuit design looks cool look cool (using shiny material as futuristic clothing is soooo cliche BTW) but the rest are pretty uninspired.
I dont think the look of this works for several reasons.
One of which is that on the one hand you have what looks like a conventional navy uniforms then you have these outlandish shiny flightsuit.
Enterprise does somthing like that but with greater effect, and so did Seaquest in it's first season.
The Orange and yellow outfits look like prision jumpsuits, and they too are way too earthy in contrast to the flight suits.

Man those are ugly.
Do they remind anyone of the Wing Commander movie? That's the first thing that comes to my mind. I am kind of glad they aren't using the original designs though. They remain unblemished at least. These help with the mind's eye view. Ugly costumes for an ugly script.

Hito we agree!!!
the shiny viper suit is very cliche'd: my first thought was Buck Rogers & Wilma in the skin tight satin thing, that Erin could barely breathe in.
But the rest are barely costumes at all: looks like they raided the local jail for jumpsuits and the Navy surplus for the bridge uniforms. and check out the insignia's and placement on the bridge uniform. Not even a proper place for what is probably intended to be a rank pin.
I'm thinking TNG's tuggable tops years were better.

The viper pilot uniforms are the pressure suit versions. When Kara and Lee are roaming the ship, they are in the brown uniforms.
My problem with the costumes is they remind me more of Wing Commander than BSG. I guess there maybe some truth from the Larson camp that Larson did influence Ron Moore when he turned in his final draft script.

I don't see the Buck Rogers influence, Jewels. Shiny fabric, OK, but the resemblence ends there (no spandex, and you can't tell the boys from the girls; there was never any doubt which was Wilma).
Half the uniforms there came straight out of a US Navy surplus store.
Very earthly, which is what they were probably after (velcro and plastic fanny-pack closures are not exactly extra-terrestrial).
They suck. Period.

How does this relate to the uniforms?
|
Cpt_ChouDi, a representative of Glen Larson, made a claim that Glen had a huge impact on Ron Moore during the final draft of the script. The uniforms look like Wing Commander which was associated with Larson/Moyer so I was commenting that maybe what he said might be true.

The costumes blow chunks hard...once again re-imagining where it's not needed, no connection to ancient civiliations of Earth. I didn't watch Battlestar Galactica to connect with the U.S. Navy I can do that with JAG, Don Bellisario does it better.
Fans of the original series didn't complain about costuming...once again MooreRon will fail to win us over.

Only thinking of the shiny fabric. Been done before. Wilma was just an easy example. (Wilma's was real satin, no room to breathe, btw. No spandex in the costumes back then.)

Seeing those costumes actually cheered me up no end, because basically anyone coming in cold to this is going to see the same old sci-fi crap they see every week on Andromeda and Enterprise!
The further they remove themselves from the original the more people are going to say: "Where's the theme music?" "Why is Starbuck a girl?" "Where are all the Cylons?" "Why doesn't that look like the Galactica?"
Universal have OKed them to reimagine BSG. Even allowing for the fact that I don't agree with this, there's been no thought in presenting a human culture that is not Earth-based!
In the original, Dorleac, took the ancient astronaut premise and hypothesised and came up with the costume designs we got.
Even Larson detractors can't argue with the fact, that the Colonial culture as presented, *is* different to our own.
RDM hasn't got an original thought in his head, the more I see, the more it confirms that people will give this the big thumbs down!

Much like enterprise, theya re making it harder and harder for me to give them the benefit of the doubt.
OKay I will say it, I hate these uniforms.
The old ones were classics. I ALWAYS wanted a Colonial Warriors jacket when I was a kid
I am losing hope rapidly.

OHMYGOD....
Jewels, it does look like a bad futuristic prison remake! Like the kind of future we saw in those bad 70s scifi movies.
Oh god... this is hard to look at. Even if it weren't Galactica this would be disgusting. What is SciFi thinking?!?!? What is Moore thinking?

I think the costumes on Dr. Who were better. Including those fellow's whose favorite saying was: "ex-term-min-nate, ex-term-min-nate" and whose name I cannot spell properly.

Color TVs
Using various colors was a marketing ploy to sell TV sets way back when. These costumes are so bad that they make one laugh.

The new flight suits kinda remind me of Wormhole Extreme! (if you watch stargate, the only show worth watching on scifi). Or maybe glad trash bags.
The yellow and orangeishred ones look like prison garb.
The bridge crew looks blah.
No wonder Miss Starbucks likes to run around the ship half-naked.

Somebody's Grandmother is missing half the material on her quilt. lol
Let me take that back because that's insulting to grandmothers.
Gee, they really went out of their way to pi$$ us off at every turn. lol
TOM DESANTO, WHERE ARE YOU? RON IS SOON GOING TO HAVE FINGER PAINTING CHICKENS IN THIS.
What’s that you say? Chickens don't have fingers? Do you really think that would stop Ronald D. Moore?

But really where is the originality, my pet rock could do better.

Not only are they the ugliest things I've ever seen, but those gray things make them look overweight. I thought the guy had a beer belly, but then the skinny girl has one too, and I know that can't be right.

WTF!!!! That's what I have to say about these costumes!!!
Warrior - how can you say they are StarWars-ish??? The costumes from SW is much more better than that rubbish they are putting on as costumes. Oooo better yet... rubbish is just the right thing... they are wearing trashbags!!!!!!!!!!
For someone that wanted to get away from the "70's" look - they are so failing!!!!
I am sooooooo hating those costumes.... :upchuck::upchuck::upchuck::upchuck::upchuck::upchuck::upchuck::upchuck::upchuck::upchuck::upchuck:
Ok I will stop before I get someone sick with all these puking smilies. lol sorry.

I was trying to reply with a quote, and aparently clicked the wrong cursor, sorry.
I was going to say something about them exchanging the disco look for the early punk movement, but nevermind.

Lukes flight suit is the same as the other Xwing flight suits. I should know, I just got done making one. Or are you talking about the different ships have different colors?? (ie xwing is orange, ywing is green, bwing is red.....)
I still don't see how those costumes are anything like any of the costumes from StarWars. Sorry.
