Thus it begins (or ends) - comments while watching
Optional:
For anyone who is watching this mini-series tonight, this is your thread to share whatever thoughts you have, whether during the airing or afterwards.
Please be polite and courteous to one another.

Well so far, I'm not impressed. I don't like the direction the character are going in and the ships look nothing like they should.

Oh god . . .
44D's glowing spine during sex just made me lose my dinner. Could this be any more painful? And I really am trying to judge it on its own merits. I want to slap Starbuck and see if there is any way to give Adama a pulse.
At least Apollo's cute. Oh wait, he just opened his mouth.

Well, I wanted to watch this with an open mind, but I can't. It's just so wrong! I can't beleive how much sex has been in the first 30mns, not to mention killing the infant. I'm not sure if I can finish this.

Just think of it as slowly watching Moore's career going right down the turboflush.
Sorry, Mike (Faires), I can't resist.

WTF!!!!! Ok I don't know if its just me but to me when the roving eye on the new *gag* cylons and their new *cough* ships - they used the sounds of the lightsabers as they are swung in the air not hitting anything. And not only that the way they sound as they were talking while in the ships sounded an awful lot like when the pilots were coming in the command center on Star Wars: A new hope during the battle of Yavin.
Sorry yall I can't... not anymore... this is complete and utter torture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want my original BSG!!!!! I want my original characters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well...
A few thoughts.
#1: I absolutely totally 100% abhor Tigh. There is absolutely NOTHING likable about him. Whenever I see him on the screen I want to throw something at the screen. He's a total ass.
#2: I missed the first 15-20 minutes - if the baby-killing scene was in those minutes, I fortunately missed the thing - or it happened when I was on the computer and not actually looking at the screen.
#3: Enjoyed the brief moments of the original theme during the decommissioning.
#4: Cylon ships - not Raiders but damned spooky.
#5: Destruction of entire fleet was spook-i-fying.
#6: Gee - they're using FRAK? Gee..... how... Galactican of them...

Well, I just checked out the running commentary going on over at trekbbs.com. Mind you the majority over there worship the ground RDM walks on and feel he can do absolutely no wrong:
Quote:
"jesus this is about as exciting as watching grass grow.
how many times are sci-fi fans going to swallow the crap from the publicity machine going on and on about these crappy shows being "fresh and new".
so far i haven't seen anything interesting about the changes moore felt he had to make to "improve" the original.
For me the biggest shock is that penny-pinching Sci-Fi actually put up the money for four hours- this thing couldv'e been done in two."

Hey, did anybody notice that they RE-USED the clip where the two Cylon Raiders banked to the left?
Bwahahahaha!!! I'm sure we'll see that one again and again.
Gee, no lasers. I guess they're using ballistic weapons only. The gunfire sounds like the gatlin cannon from Unreal Tournament. I wonder if they can sue? LOL

Belloby offers tissue to the group
Being an old-time Trekkie I am here to tell you if it hurts you that much TURN IT OFF! Pop in a VHS or DVD of the original. Don't put yourself through this just because its "BSG". Because it's NOT BSG!!!
Always keep in mind that Moore may have the license, but since we support it financially by buying the books, action figures and other products associated with it WE OWN BSG. We have the power to make this stop by not supporting it economically. You have the red slippers Kristi you want so despirately...and they're called VISA and MasterCard.
Don't let Moore and his cronies hurt you any more.
Now, I'm going home, popping in a VHS of "The Living Legend" and falling asleep to the voices Dirk, Richard, Herbert and my favorite: Lorne.
Take that Sci-Fi Channel!
Proudly since 1978

Instead of watching that piece of garbage, I watched the ep of Alias I recorded last night because I had to work. It was good. Afterward I played with my 2 cats and 2 ferrets and turned off the TV. I don't want to give Ron Moore any more ratings.
I'm with Kristi, give me back THE ORIGINAL BSG. This crap is what they show as punishment on the fleet's prison barge!

I know the hand held camera angles were supposed to give this a "look", but the only look it gave me was bad camara angles.

I was baaaad, I sneeked a peek at the last 9 or so minutes. Hooey! that was so poorly done and I am now convinced that Lorne in his day could have acted circles around EJO.
I watched the pilot tonight (TOS pilot) and just comparing the scene in TOS as the bridge crew grieves not being able to defend their homeworlds/the worlds already being lost to the scene were Husker thinks he's lost Lee. There simply is no comparison. TOS was so much more realistic! and gave you such empathy for the characters.
I agree with every emoticon Kristi used.
I'm glad the Trek bbs are upset too.
