Superman: Christopher Reeves passes away
https://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/Movi....ap/index.html
Christopher Reeves has died of heart failure.
I feel so damned depressed over this.

Reeve was being treated at Northern Westchester Hospital for a pressure wound that he developed, a common complication for people living with paralysis. In the past week, the wound had become severely infected, resulting in a serious systemic infection.

This makes me angry because it means his death was completely avoidable!!! My teachers in nursing used to tell us that there was no excuse for pressure sores they are avoidable.

To the best Superman. Today you truly got your wings.

I wanted to do something for my friend's here. So I'm using some bandwidth so you can see this commercial staring Mr Reeves. It only airred once (that I know of) during the superbowl.
Its the optomistic future where CGI allows Chris Reeves to walk again.
It may be painful to watch. So its up to everyone's individual discretion to actual view the link.

You are welcomed. I'm glad you liked it.
I was just thinking....Reeves once played Superman. Then he lost his ability to walk, and he became a real life Superman. Now he's no longer confined by a wheelchair and he has his angel wings.
It's a bittersweet comfort.

Dear Lord, NO!
Mr. Reeve,
You were a SUPER man, in every sense of the word.
Godspeed and God Bless.
Rest in peace, sir.

Nothing I can add to what has already been said here. I share the shock and anguish of all fans of Christopher and Superman. If there is comfort to be had, it is that Chris is now free from all earthly pain and suffering, and can now walk into the welcoming arms and love of the Lord.

Reeve's shot two episodes for last years season and was mentioned in the season opener by Margot Kidder's character. I am sure that he would have returned this season. This is very sad news. I heard him on Larry King Live discuss his condition. Reeve's was optimistic BUT he stated the longer he remained in the chair it could be his end a death sentence.

Tragic.
The news of Christopher Reeve's death broke over here this morning, I heard it on the radio while at work. I could not believe it was true, it felt like I had been punched in the gut.
It was totally unexpected. I thought he was doing well, they said he had regained some feeling in his fingers & toes, and there was some hope that he would eventually walk again. Then we get this terrible news, it really is hard to take.
For me, and I suspect most of my generation, Chris Reeve WAS Superman. A role he was born to play, and played him so well it probably cost him other parts because you could not look at him without seeing the Man of Steel. Then after his accedent, his tireless work for spinal injury reserch brought hope to thousands of sufferers, and earned the respect and admiration of millions. The legacy of his work will be felt long after his untimley passing, and in the future, those who suffer spinal injuries will have a lot to thank Chris Reeve. He truly became more than a Superman.
My thoughts are with his friends and family.
Rest in peace Christopher

I remember seeing Chris in Death Trap with Michael Caine. It was funny as heck. The only other actor that played Superman to perfection was George Reeves. The actor who played Jimmy Olsen went on to play Perry White in the Chris Reeve movies.

To add to the good things already said:
His acting completely aside: here was a man who sustained an injury that would have understandably led many people to hoplesness, rage and despair. This man took a bad hand and managed to play it in a way that not only preserved his family life and personal integrety, but enabled him to become an effective advocate for those similarly stricken. Who needs a cape or an iconic role when you have the courage, maturity and strength to do that.
Anybody can put on tights. Not everyone can do that.
