This is a important reminder to me that there is probably no member of our Battlestar Galactica who wouldn't be enthusiastic about meeting someone from the new show.
Our guys love our show. They belive in it. But they would be full of warmth to meet anyone from the new production. Its one reason why we respect these guys and gals so much. Not a single Diva amoung them.
(Though I admit, I heard that Evie could be tempermental at times..... )

Since i've met the original Boomer. Getting that pic must have been cool for whomever. And the female Boomer unlike the female Starbuck, is rather cute and pleasing on the eye. But thats just me!
Isn't it.

Don -
After reading that thread on the link, I definitely got the impression she isn't. It was pretty nice of her to agree to have her picture taken with a fan even though her security escort didn't like the idea. That's what makes or breaks your reputation when off camera.
Is Herb an ass? Just wondering...
Best,
Bryan

I wonder too. One of the few things that bugged me about Galacticon2003 was some pretty trashy talk about Herb from fans not from con officials. Wow, mini-series fans you want to see " Purists" tee-off on one another on Hollywood streets mention Herb being a bastard.
The two times I met the man he was gracious and I enjoyed talking with him. I appreciate the pep talk and free autographed photo he gave me to hang in my hooch during my TDY to Uzbek last year.

Strange, i thought Titon was just being lowbrow about the passing comment. I mean, i met Herb and he was a gentlemen. although i do remember i asked him to sign something for me in full (as in my first and second name) and he made a joke about what is this, i'm a sigining a "bill of rights"? ah you know nothing too serious, but for that one moment it did feel odd about how he responded to the request.
Ah it's nothing, no dig at Herb or anything as he was great. True Gemini1999, anything it's the Stars who suddenly act up at siginings who ruin their own reputations. But many times i've been to cons. It is the fans that just have a hard time with those "security escorts"! Who don't get to see much action in their jobs so create a lot of fuss over how fans approach their "charges" i.e. the star in question. And alot of them from my experience and general observation over-react to minor situations. Some are great others just take their jobs Waayyy to seriously?!
As for what Thomas7g said, yes and no. While the stars of the mini didn't write nor create the scripts for the miniseries/ new BG series. There are some who many would like to meet. Although i haven't watched the mini series right off at all, to even be that motovated. So i'll be honest. but i wouldn't bear them any hateful grudges either. Others might. And with the exception of Sackoff, for those who have seen the 2003 mini and are alienated by her portrayal of Starbuck. Any neagtive comments made by fans in general and enthusiastic sci-fi fans are usually directed at the series itself not the majority of the actors.
Enjoyable stuff folks keep it up.
And Herb a nice guy who is o.k. with everyone. That much i know.

In the picture of Grace and Herb. It actually looks like, Grace is another fan getting her picture taken with one of the stars of Galactica. not as if, she herself is an actress?
I mean she's all smiles and Herbert Jefferson Jr got his arm around her giving her the picture moment of a lifetime that will last with her!
Guess that's the effect the original Galactica stars have on people.
All round, i'd say it is indeed a nice rare photo oppertunity that happened.

Herb had a bad run in with a fan. His joke came out harsher than he probably meant and it went downhill from there. And he was in a dark mood afterwards. There was also another argument. Nothing big. People can get into disagreements.
But well.... everyone can have their bad days.
btw- here is a Herb story you may all like. The night before the con really got in gear, Richarrd Hatch managed to pull a few strings and got the IMAX theater for a night! It was the midnight show. Reeeeaaallly late. And at the last moment. But a bunch of fans and him, Laurette, Herb and a few other cast members were able to watch the pilot bigger than ever before!
Though watching a film you've know by heart, when you are kinda old yourself, past midnight...welll......
Anyways afterwards, around 3AM, a little girl came up to Herb who was chatting away with Laurette. He asked the little girl how she liked the movie. And a very tired little girl rubbing her eyes said, "It WAS BORING!" Herb Laughed hard. "THERE YOU GO! AN HONEST OPINION! If you want truth, go to the kids!!"

Just FYI:
Herb Jefferson is scheduled to appear at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel this weekend for the James Doohan Farewell Star Trek Convention & Tribute. Can read more about it here:
https://www.planetxpo.com/doohan/
Star Trek fans are excited that the entire living cast from TOS will be there Sunday. Plus many of the guest stars/characters from TOS.

I must say, my experience in meeting Herb Jefferson, Jr. (as well as Anne Lockhart on one particular day that they both attended a convention in Charleston, WV) was nothing short of super cool. Herb was quite the storyteller that day.
It was funny because there was Herb standing not three feet behind me. I knew he was supposed to be there at the convention that day, but when I turned around, I found myself thinking: "Hey, isn't that Herb Jefferson, Jr.?" I turned around about three times, wanting to ask him if he was HJJr., but I hesitated. (I think I looked like a bigger fool for NOT asking that question.) I guess I never expected him to just be standing out there among the crowd.
So, a little later he was signing autographs in a dealer room. I was able to speak with him for a moment, apologizing, saying that I had a feeling that was him out in the crowd, but I didn't want to look like an idiot by just asking him flat out if he was who he is. He laughed and told me that it was quite alright, and proceeded to relate a story about how he was signing autographs at a baseball game, and did not realize that he was standing beside one of his sports heroes. When that person's name was mentioned over the loudspeakers, Herb apparently paused signing other fans' autographs, produced his own pad and paper, and turned to his sports hero, asking HIM for an autograph.
Anne Lockhart was a total sweetheart. I met both her and Herb in the same day. I was Chief of Security for the local Star Trek club (which at that time had its perks) , so I got to work in close proximity with some of the stars at those conventions. When Anne was signing autographs, her kids were saying: "Mommy, I'm thirsty, I wanna pop." I turned to her and gladly offered to escort her kids to the pop machine. I did so, and a little while later I got to have a nice three minute (I'm guessing) chat with her. I recall wishing her much luck on a Battlestar Galactica revivial. This convention was about five or six years ago....long before the new BATTLESTAR GALACTICA was even thought of.
Of course, my wishes still are out there. I do hope for a revival of the original BSG. It was really cool getting to meet a couple of my heroes from back in the day.
Reminiscin',

He certainly seems very gracious to the Park girl considering his character had now been reduced to pointless T&A for its own sake. Kudos to his sportsmanship.
Not that I bear any ill will to Grace Park at all. Its not her fault, she's just doing her job. She's a very pretty girl and seems nice enough.
But I do resent that a strong African American role had been cheapened into wank-bait. Sex sells. And while I have no problem with that, Boomer was an unneccessary casualty that could have been better handled.
But thats no doubt been covered here a million times already

I guess it all depends on if your a man looking at it or a woman. From a womans perspective the original show had it's own female version of "T+A" in that the women had Starbuck, Apollo and the other men to leer and drool over, and trust me we did your right sex does sell and it worked on us girls!

I know a girl who had the hots for Starbuck because of his "Bad boy" mystique. Some girls DO dig the cool, confident mavericks. She had some fondness for Apollo and Boomer as well.
And if you though I was a hardnose about the gender reversal, pray I never lead her near this place.

I agree with that remark and I think that applys to Tigh as well. I still don't
understand why they had to make Colonel Tigh WHITE and a ALCOHOLIC to
boot.
