7. Action Alerts: For All Battlestar Galactica Fans

NEW! Participate in the Colonial Fan Force

NEW! The new Colonial Fan Force has launched, and has received endorsements from Richard Hatch, Dirk Benedict, Jack Stauffer, Jane Seymour, Stu Phillips, and has already received many online mentions. The message of the Colonial Fan Force: "At Galacticon, the 25 year reunion of the cast and crew of Battlestar Galactica, series creator Glen A. Larson announced that he would pursue a continuation movie if interest among the fan base remained strong following the broadcast of the Sci-Fi Channel re-imagining. Larson said that if he were to make such a movie, he would want to work with X-Men producer Tom DeSanto (you can read a more detailed account of this in our introduction). Thus the Colonial Fan Force was born. The sole purpose of the CFF is to demonstrate to Mr. Larson and Mr. DeSanto that this fan base remains as resolved as ever to bring about a continuation of the original series, complete with the original themes, cast, and characters leading a new generation of Colonial Warriors. To this end, fans from across the globe have joined forces to create the Colonial Fan Force, dedicated to raising $10,000 in donations from worldwide fans, with the goal of placing an ad in the 17 September 2004 issue of Daily Variety, and the September issue of Cinescape. Daily Variety has already confirmed a tentative agreement with the leadership of the CFF, while we also currently negotiate with other well known publications." For more information and to view the first draft of the advertisement and to participate, be sure to visit ColonialFanForce.org and spread the word!

UPDATED! Sign the Battlestar Galactica Continuation Petitions

UPDATED! Sign the Battlestar Galactica Continuation Petitions and show your support for a continuation of the Battlestar Galactica original series! The first petition is the Battlestar Galactica Original Revival Petition for Tom DeSanto, Bryan Singer, Dan Angel, Billy Brown, Glen A. Larson, Dan Pasternack, David Kissinger, Studios USA, Vivendi Universal, Sci-Fi Channel, and the Fox Network and states that We, the fans of the original 1978 sci-fi television series "Battlestar Galactica" are signaling our sincere hopes that original cast members (and their characters) are considered for regular roles in the new "Battlestar Galactica" pilot/ongoing series from Studios USA/Fox Network/Sci-Fi Channel in 2002. This is the Battlestar Galactica Original Revival Petition and currently has 17,400+ signatures. We still support this petition, so be sure to sign your name! The second petition is the Battlestar Galactica Richard Hatch Petition and respectfully requests that Richard Hatch make his trailer, "Battlestar Galactica: The Second Coming" available to be shown on the Internet. Richard Hatch -IS- listening! If you agree with the petition, then sign the petition to make your voice heard. The third petition is the Battlestar Galactica We The Fans Petition and states that We the fans of the mighty Battlestar Galactica would like to see the combined work of Tom DeSanto and Glen Larson in a major motion picture. As fans we also hope and pray that these two men can bring about a possible continuation with both the characters and actors that made the show a worth while venture. We don't ask for much but hope for a show that will make those who passed proud (Lorne Greene, Lloyd Bridges, Jonathan Harris, and John Colicos). Finally we believe that actions can speak louder then the printed words and hope that both men will take this request to heart. The fourth petition is the Battlestar Galactica: The Continuation Petition and states that The word has been given at Galacticon. The fans want above all else a continuation of the beloved series with Richard Hatch (Apollo), Dirk Benedict (Starbuck), and as many of the other stars of the show who want to participate. I don't believe we are asking for to much as evidenced by the huge DVD sales for the original product. The fifth petition is the Battlestar Galactica Larson/DeSanto Petition for Mr. Glen A. Larson, Mr. Tom DeSanto, Mr. Bob Wright CEO of NBC, Universal Studios and states that We the fans have signed this petition to show support for a Continuation of Battlestar Galactica with the original themes/characters/cast intact, as was announced at Glen A. Larson and Tom DeSanto at Galacticon. We support a united Larson/DeSanto effort. This petition begins December 10th 2003, which is one day after the final installment of the Ronald D. Moore Psuedo-Galactica mini series which aired on the Sci Fi Channel, to show that even after it's airing, there is still support and interest in a faithful Continuation of the original Battlestar Galactica series. Make a difference, be sure to sign the five Battlestar Galactica Continuation Petitions, and help spread the word!

Free Battlestar Galactica Game in Development

New report from Aries at the Battlestar Galactica Club Forums: "I'm writing a freeware Battlestar Galactica action game. 2D but with nice graphics and shadow effects. It will follow the original storyline in (hopefully) a lot of cool missions. Want to help? E-mail me at AriesNL@yahoo.com. All help is welcome but I need especially: 2D/3D artists, pixel artists, sound/music editors (you can use wave and midi), other programmers (C++), and someone who can make intro movies and/or cutscenes would also be very welcome. A very early tech demo is available at the following link. It just shows some things the engine can do. Don't expect a full game. The game will be absolutely free and will be available to everyone. I'll put it up on a website, but I'll have to make one yet." To check out the demo, click on the following link. And if you would like to help, be sure to send an e-mail to AriesNL@yahoo.com.

The report mentions an upcoming "making of" movie that will be about Charlie's Angels and how the television series started. Complete Battlestar Galactica Card Set Available

The brand-new Complete Battlestar Galactica Trading Card Set is available from the official web site at SciFiHobby.com. "The base set contains the 72-card base set featuring every episode from the show's first (and only season). Sorry, no bonus cards included in this collection. Price: $19.99". Although their web site states that they are only accepting online orders paid with a credit card, I inquired anyways and they do in fact accept mail orders paid with a check or money order: "You can make payment via money order or check. The process is the same as if you were going to pay via credit card. First visit our website (www.scifihobby.com) and place the items you want into your shopping cart. Follow the on-screen prompts until you are taken to the screen that ask for your credit card information. Simply print this page and send payment for the amount show in the total field to the address below. Thank you. Rittenhouse Archives, Attn: Order Dept., 1653 The Fairway, Suite 200, Jenkintown, PA 19046." Many thanks to Robert Kohlbus at Rittenhouse Archives, Ltd. for the update.

United Kingdom Viewing Figures for Galactica 2003

New report from Ian_W359 at Colonial Fleets: "FYI, the viewing figures for Sky Movies 2's UK premiere of the 2003 Battlestar Galactica mini-series should be publicly available from March 2nd. This is when BARB (Broadcasters' Audience Research Board Ltd) - the company that calculates TV viewing figures in the UK post the channel's top ten programmes for that week on their public website - (https://www.barb.co.uk). If you like, I can post the figures here (or in the news section) when they are available (with a selection of other channels for comparison). This is dependant, however, on the showings of the mini actually getting into the top ten (which may not be difficult if it has proven to be popular)." Galactica Audio Continuation Update

Battlestar Galactica veteran warrior oldwardaggit has posted an update at Colonial Fleets regarding his Galactica audio continuation: "Well here is an update on the Galactica audio continuation (Return of a hero) plus some more insight to the story and changes that have taken place. At first I was just going to do a short story with actors interacting with some samples of the original voice-overs but Darrell talked me into not being so lazy with it and actually interacting the original characters with each other also. By now most of you have heard the first part and basically know what the story is about. The story takes place 20-plus yahrens from the original and only uses certain elements from Galactica 80 as well as Richards books." For the complete in-depth update, be sure to check out oldwardaggit's report at Colonial Fleets.

New report from ernie90125 at the Battlestar Galactica Club Forums: "For those collecting the Rittenhouse Archives Complete Battlestar Galactica Card Set I have some news which may interest you... And for those who don't collect it, you may like to check out the link anyway as they are good to look at... News: There is to be a second Battlestar Galactica card set next year. I don't know whether it will be a full set, or an expansion set. But it will include the missing autograph cards which are known to exist (including Jane Seymour as Serina!) More costumes are known to have been bought, so there may be more costume cards. The wrapper offer Battlestar Galactica card has been removed at present. Also, for those interested in looking at or collecting the sketch cards, there is a page at the following link which is displaying all the different variations. Last time I checked - there were 116 different sketch cards!" Many thanks to ernie90125 for the report.
