I suck at painting
Trying out Photoshop 5.5 and thought I'd dabble in the paint tools. I've never done digital painting before and honestly, don't do all that well with real paints beyond weathering, etc.
Not sure what this is supposed to be but thought I'd share.
All my best,
Russell

Re: I suck at painting
Well, if that's sucking at painting, I'd hate to think what you really suck at!
You're being too hard on yourself, it's good.

Re: I suck at painting
Not really that good as its a fake. Just employing some of the latter Photoshop tools.
I started an example here. The image above was a test to learn the tools. This is the real goal.
Its always bothered me that this fanbase has never had high resolution images of the concept artwork. Finally, the technology is fairly readily available to do something about that.
This really isn't too complicated as computer art is concerned. Like doing 3D, its simply tedious. (Actually, I find it relaxing but I don't have much time to devote to it so progress will be slow).
I'm going to start a threat in the "Work in Progress" section and will detail the concept there.
All my best,
Russell

Re: I suck at painting
Yes, far better than I could ever hope to do.
I think it has it's own quality to it and looks good imo.
( even these so called siggie guru's who seem to know it all could not touch it- the ones who always critique others and whose own looks like rip's-smudge-smear-Premade brush-and others work or renders- most could not make a scratch image in PS let alone make a painting.
But they speak like in techno-jargon lingo )
At least I have made from scratch in PS, not all that good but I did.
I think you know of the types I am speaking of.
Nice look.

Re: I suck at painting
When I saw the thread title, My first thought was "Gee, so do I," and I was going to suggest investing in a good sealing primer, since it hides stains and allows you to paint over a darker color without the old color bleeding through and make your wall look funny.
Silly me.
