OT-Promiscuity is a citizen's duty...
Did anyone else catch Brave New World on scifi?
MY GOD WAS IT BAD!!!!!!!
I don't use caps too often...but there is no way to describe how trashy this was!
A futuristic world where its your duty to sleep around! Yes... the title of this thread IS one of the mottos repeated in this movie. Its the basic theme. You are a bad person if you don't sleep around. YOu are a criminal if you sleep with the same person repeatedly cause you are prevented others from sleeping with them!
Oh man the writing was so incredibly bad!!!! I think I've seen few student films that have been this bad! But this was a full blown new SciFi Channel production....
This was soooo embarassingly badly written. Horribly... the kind where you should never get hired again....
But THIS is the kinda stuff that SciFi Channel wants..... so I guess they see cylonsluts as a good idea.... That explains the new Galactica...
Mygodwasthisbad..... I thought that SFC was starting to produce some good stuff with alot of interesting (though they are getting kinda stupid now) commercials and Stargate SG1 and Taken.... I was hoping they were changing their image for the better...
...but they got some really trashy crap on their channel. John Edwards...the new Galactica trash, and now Brave new World?!? Mygod...I don't think anyone can WRITE on their collective staffs!!!!

Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
Poverty, war, illness, hunger, unemployment, and dispair are all eliminated in 'Brave New World'. People are satisfied with contentment. Strong emotions of any sort are nonexistant, people are made, not born, happiness with superficial. Sex isn't a passionate moment, a encouraged pasttime. This book is a warning, showing how unity and stability can eat up the joys of life. John was a savage because he thought for himself.
Plus that guy Bernard was not named Marx for nothing.

Sounds like Logan's Run to me.

Brave New World from The Scifi Channel
YES IT WAS AWFUL, NOW I AM AFRAID THEY WILL DO IT TO 'BSG', LOOKS THAT THE felgercarb IS GOING TO HIT THE FAN, felgercarb=THE RON D. MOORE & DAVID EICK PRODUCION.
Huxley had his charactors using the drug 'soma', so The Scifi Channel had some left over, I just figured this big BSG mistake out, oh well. Oh yeah the SEX Huxley had Plenty of SEX.

Tom...this wasn't a Sci Fi production, it was shown on one of the big 3 when it first came out. I want to say NBC, but I'm not sure.

Are you sure? I remember a Brave New World awhile ago on the big three. It was rather bad too. But I thought that was a different production. Are you sure this isn't a new one?

If it had Peter Gallagher and Leonard Nimoy in it, it was the one made for the big 3.

I didn't watch it so I don't know which version it was but between 1980-1999 the story has been made into a theater movie, 2 TV movies and a TV series (series may have been a different story). I assumed it was the theater version when I saw it listed. I watched my tape of friday's Farscape, one viewing is never enough of that show.
