Default The Young Lords

Hi,
This was another of the great novel tie-ins to the show. However this one featured Richard Hatch's Apollo on the cover when in fact it was Starbuck who was marooned. Also in the novel, Miri could communicate with the Unicorns through mental telepathy. The parent that was being held by the Cylons was the Mother and not the Father. It also introduced us to another IL Cylon of the name of Spectre.

Regards,
paul

Thumbs up

The novelization of "The Young Lords" is one of the best BG novels. Character development is great, the tidbits about the Cylons are great, the ending is great. Turning the prisoner into the children's mother, instead of their father, actually improved the story. Robert Thurston took a minor episode of the TV show and turned it into a great book.

Agreed!

It's interesting how the novelizations can complement the episodes. I remember reading them at the same time the series was on, and I think it helped me appreciate the shows just a little more because even though they weren't exactly the same, it was usually able to go deeper and more thoroughly explain the cylons and other things. In the case of this one, it removed the cheese, and improved it. Though, I'll be honest. I liked the episode. Audrey Landers....

Default the young lords

When you read the novel "The Young Lords" you will discover many other characters living on the planet. There are additional children with names such as Melysa, Jergin and Herbert the Singer. There is another adult, a hermit named Kordel. Even the Cylons have names, such as Treebark and Mudhole.
Most interesting of all, at the beginning of the novel, Starbuck reveals that his foster parents names' were Doreen and Gawr.
Mary
P.S. All of the novels have additional named characters, some of whom can be matched up with the actors who have one or two lines in the episodes, or with the extras in the background.
