If you have ever wanted to hang out with a bunch of Colonial Warriors...
Comic Con 2011 is your chance! Blackstar Squadron is having a competition with the Cylon's over at www.byyourcommand.net to see who can get more people to the convention in costume.
Throw a costume together and join us! Go as a Colonial Civilian...go as a black shirt...go as a council member...go as a member of the Eastern Alliance...it is going to be a blast!

Re: If you have ever wanted to hang out with a bunch of Colonial Warriors...
There are some real easy costumes from the Original Series. things that can be thrown together very quickly.
If you need ideas, or resources, don't be shy in asking. I can make suggestions and post screen caps for any of you.
I look forward to seeign what everyone comes up with!!!

Re: If you have ever wanted to hang out with a bunch of Colonial Warriors...
The BIG question is... Which Comic Con of 2011? There is San Diego, Chicago, New York...

Good Question. The Big celebration we're trying to get everyone together at is San Diego Comic Con. Cominc Con International. SDCC.
Although, I'll most likely be at New York Comic Con '11 as well.

I always forget to mention that bit. Of all the conventions I go to Comic Con International is pretty much the end all be all. I forget that they don't have a monopoly on the name! lol

Is anyone going to be at NY ComicCon?
I plan on going there for Sunday's festivities.
I'd love to meet some of my fellow Warriors in person, even if I don't have a uniform.

I missed NYCC since I was in Pitts for a wedding. Sorry, how was it by the way? I haven't had a chance to talk to anyone who went about it.
How is your costume progress going?

Re: If you have ever wanted to hang out with a bunch of Colonial Warriors...
Bah! Too crowded, too noisy and waaaay too warm inside.
I didn't see ONE Colonial Warrior there, and believe me, I looked!
The place was PACKED, and not in a good way.
I prefer DragonCon, which is much better organized, is spread out over four hotels, has a lot more space, and is much better ventilated.
As for the costume, it's not going. I keep hoping for a patter to become available, but Miel says it will take a couple of months.
I'm just going to save up my money and get it from Battlestargalactica.org.

Re: If you have ever wanted to hang out with a bunch of Colonial Warriors...
I didn't think you would see a Warrior there. I'm still trying to get people signed up on the Costume. Like I said, I only expected one guy to possibly travel witht he costume, wnd when no one else was going, he might not have packed the Warrior.
NYCC has had an ongoing issue with being crowded to the point of turning people off. I wasn't there the first year, but their set up squeezed people like crazy. the loosened up the following year (muy first) but it's been getting worse since then. NYCC has become the biggest con in the area, and one I know people WILL travel to go to. they need to expand on the floorspace. Since things could only get bigger for them if they don't stop crushing the people there.
I know that the 501st had trouble dealing with them this year, due to them not giving changing areas to them. All cause of them making the con bigger but not getting more room.
Unfortunately, even if NYCC moved to a hotel type set up, it still wouldn't work, eitehr due to money or the fact that hotels aren't clustered enough to support a multi hotel convention.

Re: If you have ever wanted to hang out with a bunch of Colonial Warriors...
I don't know, I think DragonCon has gotten the same way. I remember when i went in 99 and 2001, it was still pretty cool and plenty of space...
I went last year in 2009 and I could hardly move around even out in the streets between the hotels! And finding a certain presentation?? forget it, I missed the BSG one due to standing in line for my one day pass for more than 2 hours...
Sadly, I have to say I will not be attending DC anymore either...

Re: If you have ever wanted to hang out with a bunch of Colonial Warriors...
That's too bad. I had fun this year. Sure it was crowded, especially at the Marriott, but overall it wasn't as bad as Javits.
At Javits, it seemed that half the place was geared toward dealer's tables, and they were set up in such a confusing way, that I couldn't find the one I specifically went to see.
And as for the autograph section, don't get me started. The lines were too long, and I swear that by James Marster's line, two guys let out the girliest fan squeals I've ever heard in my life.

Re: If you have ever wanted to hang out with a bunch of Colonial Warriors...
This Coming monday folks! November 22nd at 6AM is when tickets go on sale. It doesn't look like we'll be able to get a table this year as there is a three year waiting list, but I'm working on getting us a fan meeting room. Either way there will be a meet up!
