Battlestar Galactica, the most interesting Sci-fi series to feature a story about a ship and her crew, set in a world or abeit universe where the human race had a spacebourne military outfit that could've enjoyed the same kinda backstory other TV sci-fi have akin to Star Trek, Star Wars, Babylon 5 etc.
Also where season upon season and within the film series of those named, various alternate Commanders of warship/vessels were named or were involved in the subplots of th episode themselves etc. Battlestar Galactica barely got out a few names like Commander Cain and Commander Kronus in a few episodes by comparison. And fan theories on who exactly might have commanded other Battlestars in the Colonial fleet i.e. like Count/Commander Baltar of the "Pacifica"? possibly for example.
Had the series a chance, in what capacity or order of events do you see a show like the classic 78 series of Gaalctica telling the auidences via exposition; who commanded various other Battlestars in the Colonial Forces besides those that were named in the actual series. Within Star Trek, has have the luxury of seeing who was the greatest captain, who was the craziest, who was the best and so on. Same with Star Wars and Commanders of Imperial Stardestroyers etc. Babylon 5 for 5 seasons, set enough of its lexicon, legacy and backstory history on all the elements that make up a great sci-fi series, and gave us a respectable sum of 'Earth Alliance Ship' Captains within its own universe.
What could classic Battlestar offered up?!?
What should it have been able to offer up in the long run had the show gone on and in each season some of the history came up or stories where events of the past were seen in flashbacks or another lost Battlestar showed up? Not something i imagined as a formula wouldn't have been repeated so much after the 'LL' Pegasus episode. Yet still? How does everyone else see this. Of all the existing names in the series etc. Who else would been a Commander set in the BSG universe and what person would they have been in the long run. Televison given us all kinds in shows involving spaceship commanders, but what would BSG truly have given us had the show continued on for 4 or 5 seasons?
Trek and Star Wars fans (who isn't one today?) just don't know how blessed they are, that they live in a world were those franchises thrive so well and they're able to debate their likes so much. Classic BSG, what might've been eh?

Like Adama, Cain and Kronus. But our sci-fi series could've been so much sweeter, if we had an actual onscreen presence of so many more 'multiple' Battlestar Commanders of these impressive warships, to look back on!
I.E. apart of the TOS BSG lexicon! Giving us and our series, a richer fictional history to enjoy, *sigh* alas no.
What if eh?
