a theoretical question about 1979
When BG was cancelled in 1979, the only way fans had to complain was through writing letters to ABC or Universal Studios. That didn't work out the way we wanted!
Let's suppose that social media existed in 1979, and we made complaints on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and whatever else was out there, including just sending emails. These much more visible, and easier, forms of communication make commenting much more prevalent, and has worked to bring back Jericho, Timeless and now, hopefully, Manifest. Do you think social media might have worked in 1979 with BG?

Re: a theoretical question about 1979
Probably not. The Networks had ways of ignoring the public back when all you could do was write a letter or call their switchboard. Mass complaints rarely worked (Star Trek is an exception). I suspect that today they have measures in place, which are more in keeping with modern communications. Decisions about which shows to zap, regardless of the ratings, are made by a bunch of nameless, faceless poobahs, aka "Them", who sit in offices and run things. How much we miss our fav shows, and the stars that become almost like family, matters not one whit to them.
