CGI & Battlestar Galactica
I've been rethinking some of my comments in the blu-ray thread.
While in a perfect world, I wouldn't want TOS effects to be replaced by CG and would like to see the ST: TNG approach to any remastering, it occurs to me that bundling the telemovie versions of the two-part episodes that have footage in them not featured in the broadcast eps would be a place for CG effects replacement (as special editions).
There's a big BUT however, the CG models would really have to pass muster and the only person who has CG models of the quality needed to do it (however unfinished) is the owner of this very site!

Re: CGI & Battlestar Galactica
Titon model looks to be the best and most precise,,,, given the time he has devoted to it........ I have not seen the Blu-ray.. I don´t have a blu-ray player.
I do believe to see our Classic BSG retain a competitive place would be to properly address the Visual effects...
shot by shot and not to turn it into a cgi feast of eyecandy only....
pacing and feel would have to be maintained.
CGI Properly done would pay homage to the original, darthmojo did a very good job with a colonial Viper.... I have attached an example of his work

Re: CGI & Battlestar Galactica
Didn't Lee Stringer build a TOS Galactica for a demo reel he did for the DeSanto project? I somehow remember it in a montage of other clips he did many years ago, and it was quite nice, IIRC.

IIRC, it was never finished.
When Titon finishes his, it'll be the closest that anyone has come to duplicating the real life Big G.
