Happy thanksgiving all. It is great to be back on the boards with old friends. This may sound hokey, but you guys are one of the things I am thankful for. My CF and CA friends have been there during some good times...and some not so good times. I hope your day is good. This will be the first year my table is not full, but it is cool. I got my daughter and I am in one piece. G'night all. ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..............

Patrick,
Whether we connect with our friends, face-to-face, or via the internet, there is still a bond. I can attest to the above sentiment, personally, and sincerely thank you for saying it.
Pete

Since its such an important holiday to you all, I sincerely hope you all have a good one,
But, please, may this ignorant colonial ask one question..
What did the two turkeys DO that required a presidential pardon??
Cheers,
Lara

Lara its a long standing tradition for the presidents of this country to pardon a turkey for as long as I can remember.
Had a blast yesterday. I had my parents, baby brother and a friend of his here for dinner. On top of this, we had about 4 inches of snow here yesterday.

Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving. We were a little busy. yesterday and had 81 degree temps.
Did I say busy? I meant exciting.
my son and I went to the Police Dept to get my granddaughter from her mother. A guy pulled up at the same time and attacked the police station with am aluminum baseball bat and a pneuematic car jack. He kept pounding at the windows. I called 911 and a few seconds later 3 cops ran out with guns drawn. a minute later there were cops surrounding the area with us in the middle. WE got out but the guy got tazered. He wanted the cops to shoot him. Guy was in his early to mid 50s and was obviously distressed. He was lucky. The cops even brought out the bean bag gun just in case. One tazer and he went down. I really think he want a 9 mm instead.
Sort of shows how depressed some people get during the season. I hope everyone stays upbeat this year.

Wow Jim,
Glad you and your family are ok! Does sound like some very strange thing to be in the middle of. You are right, the holidays can make some people very miserable. We need to all think of what we have.............not what we don't have.

I'm glad your family group got out of this situation OK.
My sister in law is an Nurse manager at our city's biggest hospital. They always have to roster on extra for holidays because it always causes an upswing in emergency cases, from suicides to plain old accidents. Its suppose to be a happy time, but for many people the stress of expectations is just too much and it tips them.
The ER crews are always the ones that get it tough on holidays. (along with the cops and the paramedics)

We saw it on an ep of West Wing, too, but noone can remember being told the reason for it. Its not like the turkey gets an exception/ is freed from being killed and eaten, but a pardon, which sounds like the original turkeys committed a crime!!

Sounds like a great day! Snow is something to contemplate when it was 35 deg C (around 95deg F I think) here yesterday!
Cheers,
Lara

I was so worn out that I was in my pj's by 6 that night. My ankles looked like softballs from being on my feet so much.
