Default Colonial heavy fighter-bomber: Early concept

Codenamed: Catapult. This has been my heavy fighter-bomber used in a Homeworld game mod. I plan to model a high-poly version of this mesh in the future. I found this LW mesh on my hdd from 10 years ago, and wanted to share it with all I hope you enjoy some different designs after constantly seeing the same viper used over and over.

This ship begs to be a 2 seater.

Not too shabby - I'd like to see the guns rounded some more.

I like that design, sleek, definitely needs to be twin seater i think. plenty
of room for a tandem. great minds think alike. something i knocked up a few years back using kerins viper.
cheers.

yeah would look very good in textures and flight.

One thing also. I briefly played a game called Freelancer some time ago.

And it has tons of Ship models n such in it, Tried getting the game tools and that ( way too many tools apps for 1-(Milkshape models also) to extract and/or use. but was all strange to me, so I dropped the effort.
It also has MODS that of star wars designs and others. So cool.
Cannot wait to actually learn modeling from a trainer.

There is also a site I found called Solcommand or so, has many models freely avail. AM unsure if the guy makes them or if they are from a game.
Am using a few for moonbase for the BSG A new dawn, if I can get back to working on it.

Am getting too many requests to do things for people and getting tied up.
but am getting better with time so when I get back to it all will be obsolete LOL

Seems to be really hard to actually come up with an original with all of em out there. Y I think the OLD Bsg stuff is so great.

Still I like that one, and would love to see it animated and in action...

It looks fantastic. Curiously, reminds me of a craft in my old F-Zero-X N64 game.

Thanks for the comments. Yes, the old Homeworld modding days were good ones. Here's a shot of a pair of vipers with textures in-game. The catapult looked just as good.

The battlestars even launched and landed vipers accurately too.

Here's what the catapult-class heavy fighter bomber looked like in actual Homeworld gameplay with her textures on. I may modify the design to look more SR-71 style in stealth. This ship could not launch through the viper launch tubes...too big.
