Default Finally building a TOS era Trek bridge set

Here's a shot of my communications and science consoles together from TOS. From here might be where I work on variants for different ships/ship classes when I do Captains Logs: Declassifieds in the original series era.

Thanks.

Since the consoles physical layouts are so identical, it's just a matter of photoshopping the actual console surfaces so that they represent their individual stations. (And adding, subtracting props as necessary. Example, for Spock's station, we obviously have the secretive scanner device. )

The only things my bridge is missing now, for filming purposes, are the Captain's Chair, the Helm/Nav console, and the main viewer.

Once again, my lovely spokesmodel, Athena from the BattleSTAR Galactica WARS project takes us through the ship.

Here she is in the turbolift. Athena takes the manual control and utters the command:
"Bridge."

"Ahhh...I have arrived."

"Ummm...hello?"

"Is anyone even here?"

"Athena on the bridge! Hee hee...I always wanted to say that."

"Is anybody gonna finish this ship?! I'd like to take her out for a test drive!"
Anyhoo, so, yeah, I've got a few more components to put in it. The turbolift doors open and close on command. I can animate (albeit, tediously) the turbolift travel lights for vertical or horizontal movement.

I think it's coming along nicely.
Oh, and I gave my refit Enterprise bridge some self-cast shadows

Looks like I've got a bit more "normals" work to do. Grrrr..!

Thanks, guys.

I just finished the Captain's Chair. And if I do say so meself, I'm purdy proud of how it turned out.

Now I just need to make the main viewer, the helm/nav console, and the requisite station seats.

Here are some pics of my Captain's Chair. Note to self: I could probably stand to turn down the specularity on the wooden armrests so that they don't blind folks in certain camera angles.

I know there are probably multiple configurations for the control layout on the captains chair armrest blocks, but this was the one I went with. (I rather thought it was ingenius of later Trek movie productions where the Captain's Chair control options were "user-defineable", just like all the other consoles on the ship.)

Steve,

I really like your rendition of the Captain's chair. I've always been partial to Kirk's chair from TOS.

I prefer the captain to be set apart from the rest of the bridge officers, as was done with TOS. That was one of my gripes about the arrangement on TNG. To me, the 'command area' looked like a lounge chair and sofa, for the family.

Thanks, Pete.

I have to admit, I too have a particular liking for the original chair. In fact, if I could scrounge up a good couple thousand disposable dollars, I'd love to get the Kirk's chair replica they've been offering online. And it is not just some oversized paperweight....it actually is meant to be a chair. Working lights and pressable buttons, and I think it even has some sounds.

And no, Senmut. No gooseneck viewer! I shan't have it!

Thank you.

Just a few more props to go, and my TOS bridge ought to be ready for filming.
