Kobolian Sphinx
Hi there,
I was recently watching "The planet of the Lost Gods" episodes, and I have always loved the particular Sphinx in the background of the temple Adama and Apollo and Serina go into.
So I paused the spot where the Sphinx is seen fairly close up on the side of the screen view.
I sketched the sphinx and now have a pretty good image to reproduce onto a fabric wall hanging.
I then was inspired to create two more sphinx designs with a Kobolian look, and I can't wait to reproduce them as well.
I'll be sure to share them with you all when they are done!

(places a cup under BST's chin to catch the drool...)
Thanks Pete! I am really excited to create this wall hanging. As you may know I do fabric painting and create soft furnishings.
This will be a real pleasure in this design to make.
The thing is with this Kobolian sphinx, it possesses certainly that Egyptian look, but also not exactly Egyptian, but indeed a unique style that they obviously wanted to create for a Kobolian style that we then think about how that came to influence our Egyptian motifs, and art/sculptures.
I love how they did that.

Thanks much - It's from my early days as a WWII reenactor - Austrian 137th Regiment, 2nd Mountain Division. Just kind of stuck even though I don't pursue the hobby any more.
If your sphinx is anything like your Kobollian Colonial Patch, it should be astounding!
No pressure...

Re: Kobolian Sphinx
I would love to see an image of that... Guess I'll have to throw on the DVD and check it out.
Maybe I'll make a CG version of it.

Re: Kobolian Sphinx
My apologies for my delay ...got VERY sidetracked with RL, and well, today i am finally here to show you my Kobolian Sphinx wall hanging.
I will post it up in the board "Art work-finished", I think would be more appropriate.

Re: Kobolian Sphinx
Its very good, Honestly I never paid close attention to the details in the tomb, I just assumed they were standard egyptian tomb props. I'll have to go look at that ep carefully.
As for the delay, thats just how it goes. I usually go for several months at a time before I get an opportunity to even touch my Galactica stuff. Glad to see that RL gave you enough of a break to finish it.

Re: Kobolian Sphinx
Thank you , and yes if you look at the particular scene where I saw this Sphinx it is definitely not standard Egyptian props. It's different and unique, that's what i like about it. One gets a sense of where our Egyptian art form or representation might have descended from, if we go with the wonderful idea of where we might have come from.
