What Do You Think?
Even though I don't consider Galactica 1980 as Cannon to the show, There were 3 Props that came out of that show that would have been Great IMO for TOS BSG, Her they are, The first one is the Computron, It's a device worn on the wrist capable of translation and invisibility (But to me it was the Equivalent to a Portable wrist Tricorder Plus More), The Second is the Turbine/TurboCycles/ Hoverbikes, These were Cool as Hell, Not only were they Road Bikes but they Transformed into Tubines/Hoverbikes that could Fly (Remember this was Galactica 1980, Made in 1980, 3 years after this Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi came out, Where they had SpeederBikes, Jeeze, I wonder where they got the Idea from ) The last is the new version of the Fighter Helmets from Galactica 1980, I can't explain it but the extra detail to it appeals to me, In the pictures below I'm showing you First is the Original from TOS BSG and the Second and Third Pictures is Galactica 1980's Version. Let me know what you think about these 3 Props from Galactica 1980 to confirm what I think about them.

Re: What Do You Think?
of everyting that came out of Galactica 1980, these are the things I like best myself. I would also add in the Small laser pistol. A holdouty laser is always something I like having on me
I was never fond of the invisibilty part of things though. But the wrist computer is nice.

Re: What Do You Think?
You are Both right Reaper and Athene, Thank you Both, I thought I was alone in this, And Reaper, I also forgot about the Small laser pistol, That is another Good one, It was sorta like a Derringer but it was their Version of the Star Trek Phaser Box.
Thanks to You Both Again.

Re: What Do You Think?
Like the GAL1980 Flight Helmet much better than the one off TOS program. It just looks more like a real Flight Helmet IMHO but still keeps the "Ancient Egyptian" accents that made the original one so recognizable.
Would love to find a kit of it on the market.

Re: What Do You Think?
Tehre was a Kit of the Galactica 1980 helmet available a few years ago (2 maybe) but not anymore. the Mold used for the main helmet shell (which was fiberglass I believe) is shot so they can't make anymore.
there have been a few on ebay every now and there and once in a blue moon I've seen them here I think. No one I know of is selling one right now.
the best thing to do now is identify the actual helmet they used (or one close enough) and see if someone can help recreate the mods for it. then start a run from the repro.

Re: What Do You Think?
for me computron for sure, and the later version of the helmets, the later helmets look like
if there was going to be second and third season of tos then they be in it. I never saw any
sense to flying motorbikes. they look like a concept for streethawk.
cheers.

Re: What Do You Think?
The flying motorbikes or the Turbo Bikes, Were a little innovative at the time, If you remember the movie MegaForce they used a flying bike in it also but that movie came out in 1982 and streethawk came out in 1985, But the Galactica 1980 Turbo Bikes made sense to get around with if you didn't happen to have a Landram with you.

Re: What Do You Think?
I wouldn't mind them myself Reaper, The thing is what would have happened if they had that equipment during TOS Galictica, Would it have lasted longer as a series?

Re: What Do You Think?
Those bikes, whether you call them Turbines, Turbo Cycles, or simply the flying motorcycles were planned for the second season of the Original BSG. There was a script written already calling for them. I'm not sure they flew in the script or just had a turbo boost for going faster on a planet.
I am not thrilled with the flying aspect of them, but it isn't the worst feature lol. After all, no one ever questioned Speeder bikes or hover bikes. The Colonials did have the tech to make things fly like the bikes lol.
What I'd have liked to see is an obvious weapon mounted to the bikes. Unless they were unarmed. And Troy and Dillon were firing their hand lasers at the Nazis.

Innovative for sure, a long time ago I thought they were something drawn up by Andrew Probert.
I thought it was him because he came up with the Cylons. as long as the bikes don't fly there fine.
I forgot about MegaForce, i'll watch that tonight

The funny thing about MegaForce is you Love and Hate the movie at the same time, I think it was because they could have done so much more with the movie but they failed miserably, If your interested this is the only MegaForce site on the web: https://megaforcehq.com/
Enjoy.

Re: What Do You Think?
I have to say that I think the BSG 1980 helmets look more like realistic fighter helemts that the original series.

Re: What Do You Think?
Ah, the Turbines (the Galactican motorcyles). I always thought they looked cool. Does anyone know if the only two functionial bikes made for Galactica 1980 still exist and still work?
