OT- Ken and Barbie SPLIT UP!
LOL I just saw it on the news! Apparently Mattel is now advertising that infamous loving pair of dolls as having a spat. And now they have broken up though they are still friends.

Are you surprise? Wasn't there rumors about Ken and GI Joe? Just kidding. 43 years together, thats 42 years 11 months and 29 days longer than Britney Spears' marriage.

The Micheal Jackson Doll is only interested in playing with little boys.
The Janet Jackson Doll has been recalled because of reported clothing malfunctions.

Well, ya know where Barbie got all that stuff? It certainly wasn't from Ken! She was the one sleeping with GI Joe!

Poor Ken. I guess its back to the trailer park for him now! Barbie won't let him stay in the dream house!

Well she can't have Ken fighting with GI Joe to see which one gets to sleep in the bed with her! They'd mess up her pretty walls!

ken's been missing before
As a long-time Barbie doll collector (why do you think my Internet name is skippercollector?), I can tell you that Ken will most likely return. Mattel has discontinued the doll before.
A little history: Ken (a much skinnier, preppier version) was sold from 1961 to 1966. After Hasbro introduced GI Joe in 1965, Mattel took Ken off the market to revamp him. No Kens were available in 1967 and 1968. A more buff version, with larger muscles and a completely different head mold, returned in 1969.
As for Blaine, Ken's so-called competition, that boy doll was introduced in 2000. He's popular with adult collectors but I don't know if little girls play with him, and I'm not sure how much longer Mattel will make him. I don't care for Blaine myself because he looks too much like Leonardo DiCaprio. Ken's had competition before, most notably the Rocker Derek doll in the mid-1980s. But Derek lasted only two years.
To further confuse all of you, the Barbie dolls sold in Brazil in the mid-1980s had no Ken at all--her boyfriend there was named Bob!

Has anyone considered the possibility of a Ken - Blaine romance, with Barbie doing a "Will and Grace" thing?

Hmm... I heard Ken took off with one of the sheep from the Serta commercial - something about getting the wool pulled over his eyes...

Not only did I hear that Ken and Barbie split on the news ((surprisingly during my lunch break.... our school used some funds and bought tv's for the commons.... a BIG waste by the way... what we really needed was air conditioning -_-)) But aparently Kens "sexuality" was also being questioned...
I aggree its a huge marketing toy... apparently the new line has Barbie and Blaine as the couple.

I wonder if this new kind of Barbie realism will ever have to deal with STDs?

Just think, if Ken had a blow up doll nobody would be surprised - they could both fit in the toy box...
