David Kerin edits
Owning the DVDs are great. I have them all.
But the David Kerin edits make the best even better.
Of the Kerin edits, I have most of them. But conspicuously missing is Hand of God.
Does anyone know if these edits are still alive someplace?

I did find his YouTube channel where he's been active. I sent a message there. Hopefully he'll answer. I'd PM him here as well, but I don't want to be annoying.

Hey there... got your message on youtube, but didn't get to respond yet. So I'm here and that works too! I'll look around to see if they're anywhere else on the net. Been a while so not sure. I know there was a bit-torrent for some time. Will be back with what I find.

Re: David Kerin edits
Okay... looked at the places I remembered, and they're not there. Had an idea. What if I upload it to youtube, but I leave it unlisted. So it won't be found in a general search. But I can put a link to the page here, as anyone with a direct link is able to view an unlisted page. Its possible to upload full-res videos to youtube now, and at longer versions.
Then you can save the file to your computer as an mp4. I use the Firefox plugin DownloadHelper, and it works great for saving youtube videos.
I have to find my AVI backups of the edits, and I'll try Hand of God first. Don't know if they'll stay there because of copyright issues, but maybe with it unlisted it might last a bit.
Will let you know when I get something uploaded.

Re: David Kerin edits
Uploaded HoG to youtube unlisted. Below is the direct link. At this point it is still processing, but should be done soon.

There are ways to save the videos, as I mentioned the firefox plugin I use. There are others out there too. Hope this helps.

Re: David Kerin edits
I BOW BEFORE YOU AND THROW LAURELS AT YOUR FEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is my favourite episode. I remember when it was originally broadcast. I recorded it on audio tape, went to my room, and listened to it right after watching it.
As far as I'm concerned my collection is now complete!
(I don't have Experiment in Terra or Judgement Day, but I can live without them, though I admit that I am curious what you did with Return of Lt. Starbuck, the only good episode of Galactica 1980. (Admittedly, the pilot was better than I remember, but the rest of the series was daggit droppings.))
Thank you again! The Lord of Kobol will look kindly on this!

Re: David Kerin edits
Cool!!! Glad you got it and like it!
I'm going to upload Experiment in Terra (uploading now) and later the Return of Starbuck/Judgement Day. Will post links here when they're done. I don't know how long they'll stay on there, so to anyone who wants them get them while they're there.
I do think EiT has some nice subtle additions, which looking back on them I like a lot more of the subtle changes more than the big ones. Less intrusive to the viewer. And if I have a favorite of my edits, one of the top has to be the Return of Starbuck/Judgement Day. A: I got to work in the DeSanto style Viper... B: I think it decently pulls in this episode to an original series timeline, kinda a lost season 2.
The only bad thing about Judgement Day is I made it before the G:1980 DVD release. So its from a VHS source of the episode. Still, I think its plenty watchable. Someday I have to go back and redo that one.

Just downloaded it.
Once again, my undying gratitude is yours!!!!
I more than eagerly look forward to you uploading Judgement Day. I am very curious as to what you did to that one.
I have actually just started re-watching the Battlestar Galactica series. Of course, watching the David Kerin edits over the unenhanced versions. All things going well, Gun on Ice Planet Zero is tonight (which I already have, thank you again!!!!).

Uploaded the Return of Starbuck/Judgement Day. As i said before the quality is not as good since its from VHS for the G1980 episode portions, but still watchable. Have to redo that one some day.

I saw the whole GAL80 on DVDs at the Library a while back. That ep would now be available in a better format.

Re: David Kerin edits
Just finished Judgment Day. Very good edit.
When I originally watched this as a kid it didnt occur to me that the three centurions had provided Starbuck a perfectly functional Raider. This did occur to me a few years ago while thinking about this episode, I see I'm not the only one.
Anyhow I like what you did with it.
I used to have a copy of your re-edit of LPOG, but I lost that in a hard drive crash.

Presumably, once in space, SB could send out a signal, on the Colonial/Viper frequency, and signal the Fleet.

I am completely in your debt! Thank you so much for these uploads! I am currently rewatching the series in order and just finished Young Lords. Next is the first time I'll see your edit of Living Legend. I can't wait to see what you did with Return of Lt. Starbuck

It takes two pilots to fly a Cylon Raider. Apollo said that to Sheba in the Hand of God episode. It could have been a Raider that could also fly without any pilot mentioned from the Gun on Ice Planet Zero novel.

Like I told David in a pm, it was pure perfection front to back. Even the little things made a huge impact. The shadowy Egyptian/Mayan etc. images in the explosions during the narration were magnificent! The random flybys by Vipers & Raiders lent depth to the shots, he knew just what FX to leave alone, and which could use a bit of assistance. His added original footage expanded the scope of an already otherwise large story, especially the destruction of the homeworlds, and that shot of the Nomen was BRILLIANT! It's like he got into MY head and saw what I wanted to see in it!!! And cutting out that "precision flying" line was good too!

SB would just say "frack the rules", and try and fly it himself. No question.

I always took it that one Cylon is navigation, the second is weapons, and the third in back gives orders. So as long as Starbuck doesn't get into combat he could actually fly the ship.

Re: David Kerin edits
Just watched Hand Of God, not too much to fix on a nearly perfect episode, but the small additions were nice, better battle at the end, Baltar's raider launch shot, the 'wagling' stuff and a really nice tag of the SOL at the end!!!

Starbuck is moving his arms in unison on his position as Apollo is moving his arm in the same direction as Starbuck's. So two have to fly a Raider. One could not fly it alone. Starbuck would be aware of that fact when he co-piloted with Apollo in the Hand of God episode.

Re: David Kerin edits
Either fly it out, or die of dehydration/starvation. Starbuck would try, reagrdless. He'd rather go out like a pilot/Warrior, then end up as a mummified skeleton under some alien sandpile.
