last time I danced was last november with a cousin of mine at the family dinner in memory of my grams. We sure did have people looking at us. Some of the patrons in the bar area didn't know we were related except for when someone said something to one of my cousins about us making a cute couple then she let them down gently!
put on the 80's stuff and I'll join you!

NNNNNOOOOOOO not now! I'm swing dancing need fast upbeat music
Braxiss I found a place in Vancouver that has swing dancing for free on Tuesday nights so will check it out and there is a couple of videos at school so I'm going to borrow them and I'm making the effort to learn even though I can't find anyone else I'm sure I will eventually at least find someone once I get there.
Braxiss from a guys perspective is it easier to dance with a girl wearing pants/ shorts (I'm not talking about the way it looks 'cause I know the answer to that!)
what did the girls wear that you danced with? and what kind of shoes?

i always liked girls in skirts, but i really don't think one is better than the other.
comfortable athletic shoes, swing takes it's toll on your feet.
and have fun.

Yup!
But a partner is really helpful to encourage you while you are learning. Oh a girl with patience is worth her weight in gold. ...er cubits.

That is exactly how I feel about a guy! My boyfriend is awful when it comes to teaching me something new, he gets very impatient and short tempered and yells, like when I was relearning how to cannoe or rock climb with him. But if he's teaching someone else no problem. I asked him why and he said 'cause he expects more from me .
Patience when teaching is crucial to keeping the student motivated to learn and interested in continuing. Why bother teaching if your not going to be able to do that. Although my Classical ballet instructor was a mad woman! she had a cane that she used for emphasis taping it on the floor to keep the beat . She was meciless when it came to our movements if you weren't getting it by the third try she'd come over and MAKE your body do the movement... ouch! she had strong hands!

If you're ever on the East Coast I could teach you to salsa with hardly any temper tantrums on my part at all but I've never been swing dancing - it looks like fun, though.
Rowan, hope you truly enjoy your lessons and I promise to keep my opinions about your grumpy guy completely to mysef.

Just take those old records off the shelf,
I'll sit here, listen to them by myself,
Today's music ain't got the same soul,
I like my old time rock and roll!
