I think there's more confusion provided by you ernie in your initial post. You use the phrase "continuation movie". You don't even know if it is a continuation (let's just say nobody in Hell has bought winter clothing). It might not even be a movie.

There's nothing concrete to hang your hat on.

When I read a report on variety.com or I read it in one one of the major SF media mags, then I'll believe the initial reports aren't just felgercarb.

Whether its a movie or a series, a TV broadcast of a professional trailer saying we support a Continuation is what I'm proposing.

I'm sorry you feel I was wasting everyone's time with what, apparently, you considered distracting and unwanted ideas. Good luck with focusing your efforts. I was just offering constructive food for thought for creative minds to play off of. Yeesh. Hang a guy for caring why don't you.

Reality check: Whatever you want to call this "project"- which seems less and less likely to become anything more than dross as the more posts this thread generates the more reasons for why things can't be done seems to be brought up- it is going to be a fan film project whether it's 30 seconds or 30 minutes until and unless someone contacts Mr. Larson or representatives of NBC Universal and secures a contract.

But what the frak do I know. I'm apparently to blame for everything getting derailed.

Then I advise anyone wanting to get involved in it to not waste their time or money because I'm 100% certain there's never going to be a continuation of the original Battlestar Galactica.

Which is why also showing our support for a Blu-Ray release and Special Edition episodes means even if a Continuation doesn't happen, we can still show our support for other products.

I'd suggest using David Kerin's fan edits for material to use in support of a special edition Blu-ray release.

Folks -

If we could set aside the bickering portion of the discussion, it would be much appreciated. If you want to talk about the film announcement (positive or not), talk about it there. If you want to talk about the revival project, then this is the thread for it. Now, if this group has decided on what form that effort has taken, then allow that discussion to continue without future interruptions. If you have other ideas on a revival effort of some kind, start a new thread, so this group can put their focus where it needs to be.

Secondly, this is Colonial Fleets, not the Skiffy board. Board members should speak to each other respectfully. If there are any personal differences or comments to be made that aren't directly related to a discussion topic, send a PM and keep it off the main board.

I know that this seems out of the blue, but with the recent increase in discussion, it seems that people have forgotten that we have rules that govern how our members treat one another. You can either police yourselves, or you can have a mod do it, it's your choice.

Play nice and continue with the discussion at hand.

Regards,

I did think about speaking to David about using his CGI, but my thought was to include something, if permitted, from The 14th Colony that none of us had ever seen before, so it was all new to us all.

My hope is that if this effort supports all three ideas (Blu-Ray, Special Editions and Continuation) then everyone's hopes are represented within this endeavour.

If anything I have done can be of use then please feel free to use it in any way you see fit. Though the 14th Colony work is beautiful, and I do like it better than what I've done. Especially the battlestar model they're using, it looks the closest to the real Galactica to anything I've seen out there in animations.

Forgive the camp of it...

Possible Battlestar Galactica continuation advertisement.
Open with the exploration theme (that'll grab 'em!) And a flash title reading Battlestar Galactica.
EXT. SPACE
The Galactica approaches the screen head on..cue main title.
NARRATOR
Witness the return...
EXT. SPACE - A BATTLE
Rapid fighting is taking place with vipers swarming and raiders all around the Galactica with a Basestar in the background.
NARRATOR
Of the epic story...
EXT. SPACE BATTLE
You got it...more awesome space battles.
NARRATOR
That has captured imaginations the world over for more than three decades.
EXT. SPACE BATTLE
MORE EXPLOSIONS THAN A MICHAEL BAY MOVIE!!!!
(Okay...maybe not that many. Maybe just some awesome shots of the Galactica in Battle.)
Text flashes across the screen..."JOIN THE FIGHT!"
EXT. SPACE BATTLE
More awesomeness from the vipers etc.
NARRATOR
Visit www.???.com to see how YOU can help bring Battlestar Galactica to the silver screen!
Flash the logo...”Battlestar Galactica” in all its epic glory.
SUPERIMPOSE "THERE ARE THOSE WHO STILL BELIEVE"
Fade in all the info...hold shot till the end. Big musical finale.

I can send this to anyone in PDF script form. Threw it together in a few minutes so it is a bit crude. Anyway, just an idea.

Monolith, that's exactly along the lines of what I was thinking of in my head, but with a lot of creative discretion given to the animator. The narration is spot on, hopefully it will all develop.....

Sounds good monolith!

Does anyone here have any skills with flash? Because that could make a great flash animation ad. Probably take just as long to work up as a CGI ad though.

It kills me that I have yet to conquer flash or any animation. Too much time spent studying audio production!

I'm glad you guys like it. I figured if we give the animators enough room to go nuts and just focus on the message then they can really make it shine!

Actually, thats not a bad idea. If we are going to set up and direct people to some sort of page with info about this we could do a much more involved version of the ad with flash or CGI.

How about a "Then and Now" approach for example CGI/Live action items from 1978/79 and then builds into stuff we've seen from the DeSanto/Singer project or fans own ideas of a continuation and end with something like "The continuation of Battlestar Galactica is coming, are you going with it?"

In the mould of Save Enterprise's Direct-to-DVD trailer, you can base the Now part on what you seen from Richard Hatch or read from Glen Larson or seen from the DeSanto/Singer project I think it could work if you get it just right
