Ah boys!
Ok... I confess I tried to swim like that too... but I can't swim! LOL
I did a few other silly stunts trying to imitate various shows. I once at the age of 8 or 9 climbed up onto the roof of the duplex we had so that I could leap from our roof to the roof of the Duplex next door someone noticed me and called my parents and my Dad managed to talk me out of it.
We used to leap off the garage roofs into snow banks in winter and pretend we were superman!

Quark was a great show that just didn't last long enough. I think Richard Benjamin played Quark. I was ticked when DS9 appropriated the name for the Ferengi, but later liked that show, too.
I enjoyed Man from Atlantis, but at the time, I couldn't understand why Belinda Montgomery didn't look more like Elizabeth since they were sisters. Both were very cute, but looked very different. Years and years later, I found out that my friend who'd told me they were sisters was either quite mistaken, or more likely, having a good laugh pulling my leg.
The Fantastic Journey with Ike Eismann, Carl Franklin, and Roddy MacDowell was a show that offered great promise, but it only lasted a few episodes before being cancelled. I saw Ike Eismann in ST2:TWOK a week or so ago. He had a relatively small part, and I'm not sure if he's been in anything big since then.

"The Adventures of Briscoe County, Jr." was a great cross-over western/sci-fi show in the vein of "The Wild, Wild West," another of my favorites from my childhood. While WWW had Robert Conrad and neat gadgets, Briscoe had Bruce Campbell, Billy Drago, the orbs, and Kelly Rutherford. Fortunately, they had time to tie up the loose ends of Briscoe after it was cancelled, but there was much that could have been done in a second season.

I loved Briscoe County, Jr. it was so sly and funny.
Oh I forgot about VR5 and The Chronicle! Thank you for refreshing my memory on those.
I've heard of a couple of the others, but not enough to remember anything but the title. So many scifi shows, so little time.

Okay, here is another title I cant remember. The premise (what I can remember); a small group of people become lost in the Bermuda Triangle or something. They find these dimensional doors into various alternate universes. The doors were a cheesy 'window shade opening' neon light affair. I think Roddy McDowel was involved in it somehow. It was 1975ish.
Cant remember much else about it, ...... As kids we used to imagine every hole in a fence, every doorway, and every gap in the trees was a dimensional door from the show.

Not to be confused with Fantastic Voyage the movie and the cartoon.
I remember swiming dolphin style was so much fun. I even wore plastic sandwhich bags on my hands so I could have that webbing, and it actually did make me swim laps a wee bit faster! The only problem was that kick stroke often gave me cramps in my calves!
For some reason I really wanna see the man from Atlantis movie where there were killer spores. I don't remember it too well, but I wanna see it again!

Sci-Fi,
Good memory on that. imdb.com says both were from 1977.
Also regarding Man from Atlantis, Patrick Duffy (Mark) turned up on Dallas the next season. Victor Buono, who I believe was the guy trying to capture Mark, was Batman's King Tut.

It wasn't a TV show, but since Tom mentioned it, The Fantastic Voyage was a very good movie with Raquel Welch and Donald Pleasence. The excellent novelization of the movie (based on a screenplay by Harry Kleiner) was done by sci-fi master Isaac Asimov.

Anybody remember War Of The Worlds the TV series? I loved the first season. But the second season they did the insane move of killing off everyone's favorite character, Col Ironhorse, cause the producers thought he was too boring!!! They also killed off the cool black guy in the wheelchair and destroyed their base of operations.
Talk about bad revisions. This is more proof that hollywood has no respect for continuity or story and will do anything to make money.

And they even skipped over the alien invasion! End of season one we were preparing for an attack from mars, the start of season two we had already lost the war!

Lot of scifi shows didn't last too long, but weren't too bad or had some promise. The Invaders, Holmes and Yoyo, Harsh Realm, Max Headroom, Halfway Across the Galaxy and Turn Left , The Guardians, Ghost Story, Nightmare Cafe, The Phoenix, The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne, Space: Above and Beyond, First Wave, etc. etc. just to name a few.
The SuperMarionation shows by Gerry Anderson was fun stuff. Supercar, Stingray, Thunderbirds, etc.
The 2nd seasons for some of the others were like Thomas7g said above, it seemed like they skipped a season or 2 or just changed the story arc and missed telling about major events that should have been shown. And some shows were just plain cancelled like The Invisible Man (petition is still up at https://www.petitiononline.com/imans3/petition.html ) upsetting many fans.

Holy cow, The Fantastic Journey! For years I've wondered if I dreamed that show. Going to the above posted link and reading the episode descriptions really blew my mind. I remember so many specific shots and scenes from that show, although I was only 11 when it aired. For 1977 it was WAY ahead of its time with its overall story arc. The basic concept suggests Sliders or Quantum Leap, but The Fantastic Journey had a lot more promise overall. Wish I could find those episodes on tape. . . .

Remember David MacCallum as the original Invisible man? Talk about a total exhibitionist! He used to run around naked!
Then there came Gemini man who kept his clothes on and even had a Cool Watch!

kat,
That was Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. He played Scottie's young engineering assistant who stayed at his post to the end. Scottie carried him into sickbay, burned almost beyond recognition. He touched Kirk's hand or collar, which was what led to Kirk having the bloody turned down collar through much of the rest of the movie.
Thomas,
You're exactly right about War of the Worlds TV show. I liked the first season, but never watched the second one due to all the changes.

Firstly, since I live in Norway, I have really no clue whatsoever about what shows are regarded as unknown, because anything except Star Trek and Babylon 5 are consiered "unknown" here in Norway. Guess with all the oil, no natural disasters, no dangerous animals and a peaceful neighborhood, God had to somewhat compensate by making sure we lack decent TV programming.
Anyhow, I really liked "Moonbase Alpha". That seventies(?) show about a colony on the moon driftig out of orbit and heading out in space. Okay, it was rather "Star Trek" inspired, but the moonbase still gave i a rather original premise, and some of the episodes were really great, even if the space battles were nowhere near those in Battlestar Galactica.
Another show that was quite interesting, was "Captain powers and the soldiers of the future". Okay, it was a "teen show", but the premise somewhat reminded me of Galactica. And it used CGI in the late eighties!

Indeed it was - Space:1999 is my 2nd favorite classic SciFi TV show (after BSG). I just watched a couple of episodes from the DVD set after not looking at it for the better part of a year. It still holds my attention!

That show had absolutely gorgeous model work. The spaceships and Moonbase was as good as anything today.
The only reason the effects may look dated is that it literally was done on a string. No computer driven motion control cameras.

Rowan -
If you really want to see the "definitive" Space:1999 website, you should try this one:
The Catacombs
Not to detract what Michael has accompished with Space:1999.org, but I find that the Catacombs website is the most comprehensive Space:1999 information source on the net. The only other large-scale site that was known as "The Cybrary", which was run by Robert Ruiz ( a real wonderful guy!) is now closed, but I made sure that I purchased a CD-ROM version of it for the 25th Anniversary of Space:1999. That disk is a great thing to have!

I remember I got into a serious argument with a 'best friend' concerning the merits of the Eagle (a Space1999 spaceship) versus the Viper. The Eagle just looked SO cool.
Luckily that issue was left behind when we discovered a more serious topic argueing over which animal was more intelligent; a chimp or a dog. My friend was such a dork, everyone knows a chimp is more intelligent. Duh.
Ah, more memories of being twelve!
