Showroom Viper . . .
I'll bang it up later . . don't want to spoil the mood just yet . .
only image maps so far are on the decals and ensignia, everything else is in house Lightwave.

Very nicely done. A very well-done mesh.
Looking forward to seeing the Battlestar come along.

Nice work Santee!
Listen take it from someone that's been through this, if you like the way it looks it's good enough for me.
Obviously if your doing work for someone else you have to follow there likes and dislikes. Keep it clean if you want, throw dirt on it if you like.
Great job!

Santee,
The texturing on the engines is outstanding on this. I'm not a fan of the blue paint job (yet) but perhaps it will grow on me.
The modeling work is superb.

Thanks alot Sandy,
I think the texturing is the best part about doing a model. not only does it signal the end of the modeling process, but it brings the entire work together. I am good at texturing but I still have vast volumes to learn yet. I still don't know how to UV map or texture map, so that should give you an idea of my level. I can do a lot with image maps and procedurals, but I need to get into the technical dynamics of surfacing. Once I get a handle on that i think I will be a better surface designer than modeler.
I think for the BattleStar I may delve into texture and UV mapping. The Galactica project has tought me a lot, may as well start learning that.

Bloody 'Eck...
Get swamped at work for a week and what do I find when I get back?
Santee, that is absolutely gorgeous! I really am in love with this little ship... she looks like she's doing half-light just sitting in the hangars, and this model captures every bit of that and more.
How hard would I have to beg for a set of LARGE orthographic and perspective renders?
Regardless, this is stunning work, and I thank you for sharing it... I'm keeping a very close eye on your Battlestar as well.
Bravo, sir!
(BTW, *I* like the blue. )

WOW . . thank you so much Jamie,
I am happy with this the viper as well, I needed to take a quick break from the battlestar so what better way to do it.
Sure I can make some ortho images for you, not a problem, Give me a few days and I will put something together for you . . maybe some prints.

You may want to change the BSG number on the emblem, as in TNS, there are a total of 120 Battlestars, not 186.
Amazing work!! Freaking georgeous!

Thanks Zingjo glad you like the ship . . .
Also thanks for the heads up on the BS Group numbers. I choose 186 because it was high enough not to be in conflict with any other BS Group number. Maybe I should drop it down to 121 ?
By any chance, does anyone know if all 120 BS Group numbers are taken and do they all have names. if not then I can drop the number inside the 120 limit and be safe . . .
good info Zinjo.
Also, . . . . this is just a side note:
I posted the Viper on a lightwave forum I frequent. The model went over well, they were impressed with it. So much so that it is up for Mesh of the Month . . .
My chances of winning are slim as the modeling talent over there is off the scale.
I am sure to be crushed . . . The contest will be fierce, they take no prisioners.
* sits alone inside battered Viper, adrift in the emptiness of space. *
Seriously though, it is quite an honor to be even amoung the group . . .
Lets just hope the " Lords of kobal " are on my side . . . .

Oh, wow... that would be /so/ awesome. Thank you!
Tell me, is that the Lightwave 3D forum where you're up for mesh of the month? If so, I think you have a stellar chance of winning - there's a lot of great talent there, but this little ship is every bit as good as anything that I've seen there. I know you'll certainly have MY vote!
Cheers!

That she does, sorry everyone who had replied to this thread, please excuse my not responding. I have been busy as heck as of late.
I have been at 3 other projects all of which have been taking up loads of time, plus I had a new addition to my family . . . .
My wife gave birth to an 8 pound 5 ounce baby Girl so I really have been busy.
The baby's name is Skye Angel Curtis . . . and she is absolutely beautiful.
anyway this is the story. I will get back to work soon, but for the moment time is at a premium.

I have just gone through all of the progress pics for this and I'm blown away! Fantastic model, really super work. I'm working on an original Viper in Rhino at the moment, about 75% done, not as good as this though. Your work is an inspiration! Bravo and very well done.
