Handles: what does yours mean?
Ok I'm curious as usual! There are some pretty interesting handles out there and I'm interested in learning about them and you of course, answer which ever question you like or answer them all. Thanks in advance, Rowan.
1) What yours means?
2) Where it comes from (source)?
3) What it means to you?
4) Why you picked it?

braxiss, comes from a book i read years ago. braxiss was the lead villian and had a read evil streak in him. the thing that was really cool about him was the fact that he was very charming, and very likeable, his charactor was so well written that you couldn't help but like him even when he was destroying innocent bystanders, even in the mist of his darkest evil you found yourself cheering him on.
so when i started playing paintball and joined a team called "the undertakers" these evil genuiss was a natural choice. the interesting thing is the fact that i go by braxiss in my everyday life, hardly anyone uses my real name anymore.

ACK! I knew that was coming! I was going to sit down later and write it up I guess I'll do it now since you asked
1) What yours means? It's a name of the lead character from a book
2) Where it comes from (source)? "The Rowan" by Anne McCaffrey
3) What it means to you? Well I identified somewhat with the character the blurb on the inside jacket says "She was the most important talent on her planet (talent meaning psychic abilities etc) but it was a lonely life especially for a woman who had been deprived of her childhood. The men she loved were beneath her, and she loved no one - until Jeff entered her life"
4) Why you picked it? Well I wanted an easy handle for people to write some handles are hard to spell or type fast, or remember, I wanted something connected to Sci Fi and I wanted something that was relatively uncommon, and I have always liked the name.

I have always liked that name. One of my favourite comedy actors has that name; Rowan Atkinson who did the Blackadder Series and of course Mr Bean.

I know my handle is a long one, so UWW or uno is fine with me. I used to post in another fandom under another handle and one day I said something about supporting the warrior even if you don't support the war and this evil hag started flaming me. She would send me vile, hate-filled messages from her AOL account and then delete the alias before I could reply. I reported it to AOL, but they didn't care as I wasn't a customer - they wouldn't even respond to my e-mails.
So, I had to change the e-mail address and handle that I had gone by for so long and go completely anonymous. Only people that knew the story would know who I was and why I had to change my handle, so it made sense to become unowhoandwhy. I really liked the old e-mail address and handle though. :sigh:

I love this story Uno! I mean it's awful what happened but never in my wildest imagination would I have thought of this, as an explanation for a persons handle! I guess she is still around and that is why you don't go back to the old handle?

lol I know my nickname is a variation of my real one also. my mother started it a few years ago after suffering minor stroke damage. There were times she couldn't remember which daughter she was talking to so I told her to just call me Ace. It stuck and I still like it!
