Battlestar Galactica DVD's Universal's or home made ones?
Whether Universal drops the ball or not regarding the DVD's is up for discussion now, Being it's make or break time. they could yet again cancell and cause major disappointment to us again since last June of 2002.
Should it come out what do we really want to see on the sets, a series like Battlstar Galactica needs a special treatment but will it get it from jaded owners of the copyright? could we as fans go so far as making are own DVD's of BG should lighting strike again? Technology is available to make copies and convert any video source copies from tape to digital should fanboy creativity over come nyone would you go so far as to make your own version of a Battlestar Galactica DVD set?
Example: Take the Laserdisc Battlestar Galactica cut, convert it to huge file by hooking up your player to a computer. Copy it to a VCD/CD burner add the TV version of BG on a second disc and add any trailers of TV advertising BG i.e. The Sci-fi Channel commericals or any originally recorded adverts during the 80's telemovies etc. Add them to any other blank DVD discs in your collection and copy them to make your own digital DVD Battlestar Galactica collection.
As a bonus to yourself add "The Return of Starbuck" (if you have it) as a extra episode thus your own collection is there knowing you can watch and view BG ON DVD technically!
On the wait and see side of things, what do the fans want to see on the discs?

Here's what I'd like to see on these discs:
The complete unedited episodes(remastered with deleted scenes added to each episode)
Updated and vintage cast member interviews
Original TV spots/promos(the ABC Sunday Night Movie opening from Saga Of A Star World would be great)
footage from the 15 & 20 Yahren reunions
Mattel toy line commericals
Audio commentary from Glen A. Larson
Richard's Second Coming Trailer
The famous blooper reel(with Lorne, Richard, & Dirk singing "We Gotta Find Earth")
This would work for me.

Well Crash4587 i be glad to share info on this subject i've collected from sources, fan websites and videos that i've got on it?
As you know the Battlestar Galactica Movie and 3 hour TV versions have footage the other one doesn't. Common knowledge is they were cut down from a working 6 hour cut, in terms of filming everything from the early scripts. Obviously alot would get cut out of that version! More common knowledge of footage from Galactica is the,
1) "Test screen version" i.e. Serina's off death and illness plotline, more people of the fleet seen suffering.
2) Dr Paye's cut scenes with Serina
3) More aliens in Carrillion casino Bar. Trading card pictures and Starbuck and Athena cut scene and dialogue at bar from the script point to more footage cut*(see 5?). (Carrillion scenes were moved around alot in editing as the rumors go)
4) Cassiopea's death ? Unknown i haven't got enough info on this but she wasn't meant to be a series regular. One script has her dead before she is saved, One comic book adaptation has her dead as well but implied not seen! I don't know if it was shot or not?
5) Small trims and extended dialogue in the scripts were shorten for both TV and Movie versions of BG i.e. Adama and Athena discussing the evacuation of the colonist, Starbuck and Cassiopea on the Galactica shuttle, Adama and Tigh on the Galactica bridge discussing the returning Viper patrol , Starbuck and Athena on Carrillion*
6) Cylon ambush at Cimtar. May have being shot differently according to some sources here i.e. Battlestar names on screen and mentioned in backround dialogue! Ship formation etc.
All of the above according to fans digging deep, could have been in the pilot alone? The Telemovies have extended footage. But the most hard to find or most sought after are either "Bootlegged copies" taped by fans and are sold by collectors or are very, very rare copies shown in countries all over the world back in the late 1980's.
I have the U.K. Telemovies boxset since last Christmas, and it doesn't have all of them.
Footage in the U.K. boxsets could be cut, as i have checked information posted on websites on the original content and compared them to the tapes. Not all the Telemovies have the scenes described so it's still confusing to fans if their getting everything! Then of course there is the Million dollar question, DOES UNIVERSAL HAVE THE UNCUT EPISODES FOOTAGE. Even in the mid 1980's when the expensive Laserdisc players were about, they could have released epiosdes on Laserdisc in a extended format?
Lets hope they DO? sooner or later delays won't be excuse enough for Universal. When nearly every sci-fi series is coming out on the DVD format with extras of all sorts to keep the fans and consumers happy!
KJ
Lets not forget the legendary deleted "Cloven Hoof footage" which either was filmed or not or just plain don't exist anymore?

Also, i got some of my info from sites as "Battlestar Zone.com" "Sheba's Galaxy" and "Kobal.com". Other stuff is from magazines and enough talk discussed between fellow fans.

I take it fans have debated the War of the Gods footage to death but i'll like to like to get to the bottom of the debate of whats scenes were cut out besides the cloven hoof footage and the subplot about Count Iblis and Sheba. The colonials finding out his identity, scenes with Starbuck and Boomer discussing the missing pilots other scenes talked about are the three Warriors on the "Red Planet" seeing a strange figure on a hill darken and walking into the pit where the crashed ship is (perhaps Iblis in his true form but unseen clearly. And the dead tree on the agroship which Count Iblis touched while with Sheba.
Even though i have the U.K. boxset i'm not sure if the expanded version of WOTG has all the footage or half of what been discussed hasn't just come from the scripts or novel versions?
Help a fan out with this?
