Re: CG Galactica
OK... back to Galactica related...
I've been working on animating my gun fire from the laser canons. This is my first time ever doing this in Lightwave.
I wanted to created something similar to the new show, but also have a "laser" feel of the projectiles from the original series. Anyhew, this is what I came up with.

Here is the second version... A little longer... I added rotations to the laser canon to give it more life. Plus I wanted to really spice it up with some muzzle flash.

Re: CG Galactica
That's pretty good!
I prefer the actual laser fire but to each his own.

Thanks Titon...
I'll probably add the classic lasers to the bigger cannons. Those will be my Burst Ion cannons that line the top of the old lady. They will shoot slower but massive laser ions.
Something classic for the die hard fans.

Test animation of my Viper jamming through space.
I'm currently testing the animation of the engines... Just playing around with different looks.
This is one of them.

Re: CG Galactica
Too bad someone with the knowledge can't design and/or build a full-size Viper, that could fly in the atmosphere.

Re: CG Galactica
Yeah, that would be cool... If they can make the stealth fighter and bomber fly. They should be able to make a viper fly.
Anyhew, here is an update on my Viper engines... I did a little more tweaking to get this new result.

Re: CG Galactica
Working on Galactica's big guns... These will be firing the big "Flack" mortors at the Cyclons to help create a wall of flying debris to rip apart the cylon raiders.
I still working on perfecting the smoke trails... But this is what I've done so far.

Re: CG Galactica
I was finally able to apply motion capture to one of my CG Characters.
This is a test animation of one of the Launch deck crew guys for my Galactica project.
It still needs some fine tuning, but I'm happy with the results so far.

Re: CG Galactica
Thank you for the feed back. This has been a very challenging part of my project.
Lots of research. Not to mention trial and error. Special thanks to my buddy, Richard, for being a good sport and being my guinea pig.
I added my character into the Launch Deck Scene... There are still a few issues and some bugs to work out. But this is my first attempt at character animation in Lightwave.
Also I did some tweaks to my Burst Canon and gave the projectiles a beefier look.
