i just snagged a pair of Full Bores...
I found them on eBay this morning. They even have the right style buckles and they're the right size! I got them for 42.50 including shipping. I recently just missed out on a pair that was selling for 250.00 and I was feeling bummed about it. I've wanted a pair of these for what seems like forever. I guess now that the hard part is done, I'll have to start collecting other costume bits.
I'm so happy about this, I can't tell you!

Nicely done man!!!! That is a fantastic price as well. Smooth sole? Are you thinking of dying them yourself or having Chris do them?

Re: i just snagged a pair of Full Bores...
Not smooth soles... They have a tread pattern on them. I've dyed boots before with good results. These are in fairly good shape, but show signs of use. About the color...I've seen some boots that were dyed all black, but I've seen boots in the series that were dyed brown as well. Are both correct, or is Brown the only color that they're supposed to be?
As to Chris...which Chris are you referring to? I confess that this is the first time in over 20+ years that I've ever considered putting a,whole costume together... Any advice/sources you can offer would be appreciated.

Re: i just snagged a pair of Full Bores...
I have a pair of the treaded soles as well. I actually really like them. So many different styles of boot were worn on the show I wouldn't be surprised if some of the treaded ones were used as well. I'm still trying to track down the boot that Giles wore!
There are a few tutorials up over at Blackstar once you get up and running with dyeing them. If you go with the NuLife spray, Cordovan or Chocolate are about the closest matches I've seen.
Chris Pappas (kobol.com) may dye them for you and match them to the screen used boots. I've seen a few pairs he has done and they are spot on.
Interesting fact, the buckles and plates on the screen used boots weren't masked when sprayed. I guess that helped "knock down" the shine just like the black dusting on the jacket buckles. I usually mask them anyway. Looks better in person as opposed to on screen.
I'd love to follow your progress on this! The boots are always such a major find. I love 'em!
This is a great time to start planning the uniform. When Anovos releases their jacket it is going to be awesome. Have you seen the mock up?
