What usage does anyone think this ship might have in the BG universe? I want to put it to use, but dunno where to fit it in.

Nice conversion and render... it looks really good. ^_^
As for the use... she looks a bit small to be a freighter to me... and she has rather more guns than I'd expect on a freighter, too.
Between the absense of any place for significant amounts of cargo, and the presence of the guns, I'd figure her for a courier or a patrol boat of some kind.

Cool ship, but what would it look like if you replaced the red with say, dark green?

Looks very good, I like the idea of the moving wings. Nicely modelled.

Re: Capran Freighter
I think it would fit in nicely with the rag tag fleet of 220 ships that we only ever see a few of.

Of course it'd fit in there. But what is the ships function? What would its cargo type be? Etc etc

Re: Capran Freighter
I still think a long range scout ship. built for speed and heavy armaments encase of Cylon encounter.

Re: Capran Freighter
old thread, but must still be relevant.
well, as a newbie, and at first look, you know what came to my mind.
A control ship, like an ATC=Air Traffic Control station.
err STC=Space Traffic Control. Flight ops ship....
strikes me as a that, a type of control tower.
A space traffic cop also maybe.
simply put a Traffic Control ship...?

Re: Capran Freighter
STC/Police vehicle... I like that.
That's what it's purpose shall be.
Also an emergency transport, ala medical/relief type of thing.
...hmmm Gonna re-work texturing on it to reflect that.
Thanks!

IF you have the main access to the ship being those ladders below the cockpit area, this wouldn't make a very good medical transport. It would be hard to get equipment and/or injured on or off the craft.
I know I'm late with my post, but Richard Hatch had a craft like this in one of his books (Warhawk I believe) a small tactical ship, armed and capable of transporting more then one Warrior. I thinkm it had a crew of 4 aboard and room for a few passengers. (very few)
And honestly, between the 8 wing mounted lasers, 2 side lasers and 2 forward heavy guns, this is HEAVILY armed, alot more then a cop ship would be. This is a military ship, if you ask me.

Re: Capran Freighter
See that landing pad on top? I think that covers loading med equipment, etc.
As for being heavily armed: Cylon war armament, as well as "moonshine runner" armament (think "The Long Patrol").

ok, you;re down ion a planet, evacing wounded from a cylon attack, how does the equiopment get from the top of a very tall ship to the ground where it's needed. Or the wounded up to the loading hatch?
Effective med vac or emoergency vehicles need to be able to get feet (and gear) on the dirt ASAP. Top loading doesn't always work very well.
Now, if this is doing this only in urbanized AOs (areas of operation) or within the fleet, then it will work.
If this was designed as a cargo ship or med evac/delivery ship, you'll need a ground lift or loading ramp.

Re: Capran Freighter
You can't see it in those renders, but there are lifts on the bottom.

Re: Capran Freighter
why not different variants a multi purpose design.
for the policing remove some of the weapons
for a Scout ship replace some of the weapons with sensors

Re: Capran Freighter
Nah. Policing and Medical rolled into one works for me. Prepared for either situation.
Also, will be doing away with those ladders. 1. They are too big for what I have in mind (imagine a shuttle sitting on that top platform). 2. Gonnna put small lifts there for the crew.

Re: Capran Freighter
ok, if a standard shuttle fits on that top lift, I had the scale Completely off on this thing.
it's alot bigger then I was thinking.

Re: Capran Freighter
That is a very cool design, Warrior. Looking at it, I'd think it to be some kind of mobile listening post. But police and rescue sounds good too.

Re: Capran Freighter
She is a beaut though, isn't she?
I'd say that shes a long-range supply ship. Perhaps the type that delivers prisoners and picks up Ambrosia in return.

Re: Capran Freighter
I tend to think it may be a 6th millennium design. Possibly this type of ship used to make runs to the Proteus prison.
