Ft Hood
Although not the happy message you usually get around her, the Ft Hood shooting is very hard. I'm connected to this base and its soldiers. Fortunately, none of the people I know were among the group this maniac attacked. They processed last week. Unfortunately, there are a number of families that thought this was the beginning of a fine reunion time and will now be burying their loved ones.
My hearts and prayers go out to the living and the dead.
I'll leave it at that.

All my best to all and please, hug your kids and remind your wife/husband/friend/significant other that you love them and deeply care for them.

Re: Ft Hood
It was horrible to hear about. The one place our guys and gals should be safe from harm.
Thoughts and prayers as well.

Good words to live by, my friend.
(Yes, he did win the competition.)

Re: Ft Hood
Well, SW PA has been directly affected by the events at Fort Hood.
Juanita Warman, 55, a military physicians's assistant, was among the 13 people who have died so far, said her sister, Margaret Yaggie of Roaring Branch, Pa.
Ms. Warman attended Pittsburgh Langley High School and put herself through school at the University of Pittsburgh, her sister said. She had spent most of her career in the military. The family was notified of her death early this morning.
Ms. Warman had two daughters and six grandchildren, her sister said.
And Army 2nd Lt. Brandy Mason, of Monessen, was injured during the shooting, according to her aunt, Sabrina Heath.

Re: Ft Hood
I've read that not even the most competent mind can predict the actions of a deficient mind. And I cannot fathom that anyone who would do such a thing isn't deficient in some way.
My thoughts and prayers are with the families that are suffering.

This is so true. You look at everything from postal workers who have gone, well, postal, to school shootings and while there are 'signs' they only become clear after the fact. Many times we see it with knowledge of what we're looking for. The human mind is a strange thing.
