Where're the spoofs?
I really didn't intend to start a "serious" discussion about this (it was meant as a jest/diversionary topic for another thread) but, when a MOD asks you to, well, you got's to obey. So here goes. .
Did you ever notice there're no spoofs, adult or otherwise, of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA?
There's not even any BATTLESTAR GALACTICA PORN! (Drawn, CGI, live action, or otherwise.)
I know, I know. That's probably a good thing. But bear with me for centon. I have a theory that pop culture popularity can be proportionally gauged by the number of "erotic" works and/or spoofs produced in emulation of a series or movie et al.
Consider that Flash Gordon got Flesh Gordon. Star Wars got Sex Wars. Star Trek got Sex Trek and XXX Trek and all kinds of comic book spoofery. (Not all necessarily "adult" material.) I think they even did a softcore 'porn' spoof of Dr. Who yet. .
Has there ever been anything for BATTLESTAR GALACTICA? I don't think so. Or if there has been I've never heard about/seen it. I'm sure Mad or Cracked magazine lampooned BSG back in the day since one of them did STARLOST but you never hear anyone talk about a BSG lampoon; assuming they did one.
So what's the deal?
There are pages dedicated to Slave Leia artwork and other assorted Starwarotic. But where's the love for Galactica?
Actually, come to think of it, the 80s BUCK ROGERS hasn't exactly been spoofed much either, has it? Yet both were iconic Glen A. Larson productions. Hmm.
Coincidence?

Re: Where're the spoofs?
Out there allegedly exists an entire wastage of 100 hours or so of soft porn film that purports to do all that you describe. But of course a serious studio like Universal would never give $20,000,000.00 dollars to a Berman Drek alumnus who was kicked off that production for incompetence by Berman, himself, and tell him to produce such a thing would they? So it must be a fantasy.
And we should be happy that CBSG does not lend itself to that.

Re: Where're the spoofs?
I love that episode of Robot Chicken!
Oh and trust me there is some of that going on in the world of Battlestar fandom...just not quite what I would have assumed or what I think you're getting at. I've inadvertently been introduced to some "slash" by a fellow fan.
Apparently the Apollo and Starbuck dynamic has a different context to some. I definitely don't want to judge because he's a pretty cool guy, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't set me back a bit.

Re: Where're the spoofs?
monolith21,
Not talking about fanic, per se. There's fanfic for EVERYTHING. Back in the days of BBS one of the first fanfics I ever read was set on Gilligan's Island. It was short, not well written, and involved Ginger and Mary Anne.
I've said too much, haven't I?

It scares me enough when you mention someone that was once family.

Re: Where're the spoofs?
What's interesting, if mind boggling, is during the 80s (?) porno spoofs of BEETLEJUICE and THE CONEHEADS were supoosedly produced. Never seen them. But stumbled on a site that mentioned them when researching sci-fi movies once.
Granted it didn't take a genius to come up with a spoof title for those. Maybe that's why there's never been a Battlestar Galactica spoof. Unless you're wanting to do a comic book about bovines called Cattlestar Galactica there's not much else you can make of that title. Paddlestar Galactica? Neddlestar Galactica? Babblestar Galactica? Noodlestar Galactica?
At lest Buck Rogers has an obvious spoof title choice.

Like I'm the ONLY one here who ever thought of doing a bovine comic spoof but didn't for lack of talent, ability, and a fear of being mocked by his peers.
Actually, to be semi-serious for a moment, what about Battlescar Boudica?
A space opera version of the Boudica legend.

Fitting series to premiere on the newly launched syphilis network. I mean, honestly was that the BEST name the marketing company they hired could come up with? SyFy?
But I digress.
Crapica: Can't say I'm the least bit interested. The promo I saw was boring. Stargate Universe looks far more interesting, and that's not saying much.
