Bon Voyage to The (Original) Last Person Thread
Yes, it's time to give this most ancient of threads a proper send-off.
So, if you're game, post on the ORIGINAL Last Person thread and see if you're the last one.... because, at some point in the future, the thread will be closed!
It may be an hour from now or a day or a week or a month or ....... ????
Try to be the last one on the thread.... after all, that's the purpose of the thread.

Re: Bon Voyage to The (Original) Last Person Thread
Well, the deed is done and the thread is CLOSED.
Now, to review a few details about the thread.
It was started on December 23, 2002.
It was closed on August 8, 2008.
There were --
- 136,333 views of the thread;
- and 1,116 pages!!
Putting that into perspective - it was viewed 65 times a day; tallied over 16 replies per day; and over 1/2 page of responses created daily. Every day.
No other thread, here, comes close to those numbers.

Fare-thee-well Last Person Thread!
May you find brighter stars and silvery moons and warm suns in the Thread Heaven you are going to!
It was the best!
I shall have fond memories of her for a long time to come. But on that note, come and join the madness continuing on the The Last Person -Part Two!

It looks like Damocles became the last person on the thread before it was closed...

Re: Bon Voyage to The (Original) Last Person Thread
So, what was the point of the closure?
There were a lot of people who contributed to that thread who are no longer here, and it was a tangible reminder of them.

Re: Bon Voyage to The (Original) Last Person Thread
The thread's not going away, it's still there. But really - did anyone ever go back more than a page or two? Out of more than a thousand?
But you have a very good point about that thread being a reminder of good times - which is why we're going to leave it where it is, as a reminder and an opportunity to go back and revisit fond memories.

Archangel,
When Tom originally started that thread, he envisioned it to close, eventually. (Check out the initial post).
Lately, folks were having rather lengthy delays in accessing the thread. Considering that it had 33,000+ posts, that's not surprising.
So, in a nutshell, and since Sarika had started up a new one, it seemed the right time to pass the torch to the 'next generation'.
(Thanks to Dawg for re-sticking the thread.)
