Default More ORIGINAL BSG props on ebay

Hi all,

Just discovered the following on ebay, again sold by Profiles in History, who have sold many original BSG props before. They are :

$800 - Large Battlestar Galactica wall-mount insignia (From Take the Celestra)
I really wish I could afford this !!!
https://cgi.ebay.com/Large-Battlestar...QQcmdZViewItem

$2,500 - Maren Jensen hero leg computer
https://cgi.ebay.com/Maren-Jensen-her...QQcmdZViewItem

$400 - Colonial Warrior costume sketch
https://cgi.ebay.com/Colonial-Warrior...QQcmdZViewItem

$400 - Assortment of 21 cubits
https://cgi.ebay.com/Assortment-of-21...QQcmdZViewItem

$1000 - Working Cylon prop used in Galactica 1980 (Cy's from Return of Starbuck)
https://cgi.ebay.com/Working-Cylon-pr...QQcmdZViewItem

$600 - Working white blaster from Galactica 1980 (Used by Troy)
https://cgi.ebay.com/Working-white-bl...QQcmdZViewItem

I'm watching them all, and will post an update of what they final sale price was. I sooo wish the Take the Celestra piece had come up a year or so from now when I could afford it ! Not sure why some of the triangles are different colours though ?

Awesome stuff! I was checking out that Take the Celestra board with the Colonial design and noticed something strange. On the flag behind Adama hanging on the wall, there is another Colonial 'triangles' design that is different from all the others. It has fewer triangles around the edges. So I guess they actually had different triangle designs?

For the record, $2500 is a steal for anything that was wrapped around Maren Jensen's thigh.

I would agree, however, this piece is an anachronism.

I have it on EXCELLENT authority that ALL of both types of non-electronic flight computers, as seen in the publicity shots of Maren Jensen behind the Universal tower and of Richard Hatch and Rick Springfield posing on the bridge set and in the Warrior's billets, were broken down and reconfigured into the type with blinking lights several days into filming. Other than the publicity photos, the only scene where the non-electronic versions were used was scene 263, the Nova of Madagon briefing, which was filmed on the fourth day of shooting, March 13th, 1978.

One of the costumes in my collection is Maren Jensen's Warrior costume, the one she wore in the publicity shots, pilot episode and Lost Planet of the Gods. I would love if the flight computer from the publicity shots still existed in its original form, but it just isn't so. If it still existed, I would have bid on it in a heartbeat.

On another note, the wall mount Galactica insignia, which I was able to win, was also used in The Lost Warrior, War of the Gods and Murder on the Rising Star, in addition to Take the Celestra. Without reference to which way would be considered "up", originally in The Lost Warrior, the insignia was oriented in one direction and in the later episodes, it was oriented 180 degrees from it's original appearance. On the back you can see where the original bracket was removed from what would now be considered the bottom.

I am very pleased to hear that the mount I thought was stunning (and realy wanted myself!) has gone to such a good home. I am genuinely very pleased for you....

I did notice on the auction image that some of the triangles were off-colour to the rest ? Is this due to neglect or poor lighting on the photo ? The auction also said the winner was a floor bidder, so I guess you saw some of these stunning items up close.....

Thanks.

Originally, the triangles were painted gold. For the later episodes, they glued a metallic surface over the paint. Over time, some of the metallic surfaces have fallen off and exposed the gold paint underneath, hence the different tone.

Thanks for the clarification. Will you be making details of the mount (eg dimensions on the metal triangles) available online for prop re-producers ?

I bet it looks great on your wall !!!!!

No, but I've been considering offering a repro myself, however, I'm not too excited about doing anything on spec since my last Galactica project didn't sell for enough to cover materials, not to mention the R&D expenses.

Chris

Looks like you and I should discuss a joint venture, Chris.

I've got quite a bit of material and vendor resources that might help that trouble.
