The Cylon Molded head packing is no longer available which means the ones we purchased are collectors items. I am very curious as to the sales figures will be when the new ones are released for purchase. This price is outstanding.

I paid about $89.00 at DVD Planet. I'm not sorry I didn't wait... but, you are right, that is a killer price... I should mention something about it at CFF. Thanks for the update, Paul!

I know I have seen 3 versions of the packaging.

The Cylon Head (Oct 2003):

Flat (Dec 2003)

Digipack (Dec 2003 or Mar 2004)

But are they selling the booklet inside too? I really liked the art in there.

The artwork for the 'flat' version was used on the UK/Australian standard versions of the box-set.

Bizarrely, Amazon in the UK has knocked down the price of the UK Standard version of the Galactica box set by 60%!

Original price £49.99 ($91.43)
Discounted price £19.97 ($36.52)

That's with free shipping too!

I might just take them up on that!

I'm guessing they figure that everyone who was going to shell out $100 for the thing has already done so... I'm sure they have make a tremendous profit on the original issue. Cost is negligible for reissuing what they've already got, so they're pricing it so that more marginal fans... or those wwho simply didn't have the $100... will now buy it. It's all gravy at this point. But, I still hope they sell a lot of units at this price... the more money spent on TOS, the easier it will be for the suits to greenlight a continuation.

62.99 is definitely getting closer to my ballpark of affordability. My big regret is NEVER having picked it up while I was in a good paying touring band. Now that I am merely a karaoke host (hopefully will hear of another killer band gig soon) I will have to wait until I might be able to find the box set in a pawn shop (barring a sudden great cashflow)

NOW, if Fox would drop the price of ALIEN QUADRILOGY

Respectfully,
Martok2112

The discounting is good news. Anything that gets copies of the orginal series into the public eye is a good thing. Now, if only the swine a Paramount would do the same thing for their Star Trek boxed sets, I might buy them. If you wanted to buy every Star Trek DVD set, you would have to shell over $2,800! (3 TOS, 7 Next Generation, 7 DS9, 7 Voyager and 4 Enterprise) In contrast, Stargate SG-1 boxed sets can be found for around $40 and are loaded with bonus features.
