Default Saga of A Star World-Novel.

https://pp226.proboards25.com/index.c...151000&start=0

The war with the cylons begins abruptly with them attacking Colonial shipping lanes.

The book begins with Apollo and Zac on patrol. There is no passage with Zac pleading with Starbuck to feign an illness.

President Adar- He is described as a bearded man about Adama's age. He and Adama were at the space academy and flew together.

The Pacifica- This is the sister ship to the Atlantia which was destroyed.

There are five battlestars at the peace conference.

The Galactica is described as the finest ship in the fleet. It is also the same design seen in the Moore mini. The bays do retract.

Adama became commander after his father retired from the service.

Who is the author? I'd like to have my local library try to get a copy thru interlibrary loan.

They've been republishing them lately. I've noticed that each time Hatch has a new novel, they come out with a few republished TOS novels as well. I've almost rebuilt my BSG novel collection this way. If you go to a book store, look for Hatch books, there might be a few TOS novels there. If not, look in the series sections...near the BattleTech novels...I've seen the TOS novels sitting there as well.

Thumbs up

I got a new Battlestar Galactica book today!! and its called APOLLO'S WAR
by Glen A. Larson & Robert Thurston.

The beautiful planet Yevra is being ravaged by a decades old conflict, a war that has gone on so long can remember it's cause.
Lured to the planet by the promise of provisions for the Galactica fleet, Apollo, Croft, and Sheba are captured.
Quickly forged into a fighting unit, they are cannon-fodder in a war not their own.
Apollo struggles to keep his comrades alive in the heat of battle-and wonders if he will ever see the Battlestar Galactica again.

I found it by chance in a second hand book shop while out enjoying the sun today
has anyone hear of this book, its listed 13 in the BSG book list

Yep. It is hard to find and very expensive. It was put out by Ace Books, I believe. If they have another copy, let me know.

there's a book 14 too: i think it's Surrender the Galactica

Apollo's war was pretty inventive.

Worth mentioning:

The Big G's propulsion system-This is the Marron drive. It eats up Tyleum at an alarming rate. This was one of the reasons that the politicians were eager for an end of the war.

The Sex Scene- Yes there is plenty of sex in this book. Starbuck is smoking his famous cigar. Boomer actually grows the tabacco for him. Cassi takes a few puffs of the cigar. She is wearing a dress that will become revealing in the right light. Athena actually catches them on the monitor making love and in another scene reports to her father these events. He responds by telling her that she will have to fight for him (Starbuck).

The Mission in the minefield- For everybody that renders pictures of the nova Madagon, there is no nove that they must pass through. The planet carillon is ringed with mines, three types, one of which emits such a powerful light that the Canopys must be darkened. Also Adama orders Apollo, Starbuck, and Boomer on the mission. Apollo guides the pilots through and there is no mentio of Rigel giving instructions.

The Casino- There are a number of different species there including a feline hostess who has four breasts. I guess this is where they came up with the idea for the three breasted feline in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier.

Cylons believe in poligamy. However a small sect is practicing monogamy. Also they aren't described in the book while Apollo is in the landram with Serina and Boxey.

Default other characters in saga novel

There are other named characters in the Saga novel. Serina has two assistants when she is reporting, named Morel and Prina. Dr. Wilker's assistant when he is creating Muffit II is named Lancer. The engineer/mechanic overseeing the care of the Vipers on the Galactica is named Jenny. Jenny will appear in some of the later novels and she seems to have some of the same responsibilities that Bruce Wright's character had.

Way cool skippercollector. Another very interesting fact, Cassiopeia is described in detail- She has dark hair not blond hair. This could be Maren down to a tee. Athena is described as lookinglike Adama with blond hair and blue eyes. This description fits Laurette. I wonder how the series would have went if they hired Maren as Cassi and Laurette as Athena?.

Very Different-The novel near the end varies greatly from what we saw on the show.

Cassiopeia is abducted while in the casino by an Ovion who sneaks through a passage in the wall.

The three men that are wearing warrior uniforms are also abducted but survive. They are rescued by Starbuck and Apollo.

Colonel Tigh goes to the party and kills a number of Cylons before being hit in the arm.

An Ovion tries to stab Boxey to death and Apollo shoots it.

Apollo:Run Boxey.

Seetol watches as Lotay is killed by a blast from Starbuck's laser. This is accidental.

Muffit the daggit is hit and lies in a lump on the floor not moving. Boxey has now lost two pets. Apollo carries the lifeless daggit which does have teeth.

Adama suspects that the Cylons are going to launch an attack and has managed to keep a squadron(blue) in reserve aboard the Galactica. They launch to meet the attackers

Cylon: They aren't sending out any intercepters.

This statement is false.

Vipers on Carillon- This scene is also a bunch of felgercarb. There are none. Red squadron including Apollo and Jolly are quickly shuttled to the Galactica where they proceed to launch. Starbuck and Boomer are left on the surface to insure that the civilians get off the ground in shuttles. However Starbuck sees a Tylium freighter and decides to fly it and it's cargo to the Galactica. Cassi comes with him and also mentiones the fact that her father was a merchant. Also she hates being called Cassi.
