Water, Water, Everywhere
You’ve probably been to the ocean at least once in your life. I know I have. Going when you’re young and it’s all new is so amazing. The vastness is so overwhelming in its majesty.
On one of my first visits, I was having the time of my life. Playing in the sand, making castles, teasing the foamy waves with my chilly toes, it was all so perfect. The sun beating down was like an antagonist of the sea and its frigid beauty.
Then I got thirsty. Asking Mom if I could have some water yielded an odd reply – we have none. None? With gazillions of gallons of it floating inches away? Then she explained. Yes, it’s water but it’s not /drinkable/ water. It has an extra ingredient, salt. That spoils it for humans. So much water, so close by, and still I was thirsty. That leaves an indelible mark on a young mind.
Today I feel I am facing a similar experience. Yes, the new BSG is water. And I am /so/ thirsty. But you see, it has these extra ingredients that make it undrinkable, at least for me. It changes too much and so little is the same. It both puzzles and saddens me in ways I cannot express.
Water, water, everywhere. And not a drop to drink for a thirsty fan.

Yes, well said.
Along the same lines, Muffit, "so close yet so far away".

Exactly!
That's just about right, Muffit. Very good analogy.
Sad because after so long, fighting so hard, we finally get our revival...BUT, look at what shape it has taken with something we never wanted. Of course, it's BSG! THey have to screw with it and totally screw the fans who loved the original series...are we really surprised?

The MINI isn't a part of the Original BSG series and never will
be Charybdis. Just remember the BIG screen version written
by people who actually know what they're doing and hold out
for that.

I agree.
I have read the script (or at least what is purported to be the script - and it matches some of the commercials I have seen) and I understand your comments.
The mini appears to have some interesting points, but it is not BSG as I know it.
Its much like the Wild WIld West movie. A somewhat entertaining item that had no need to corrupt an icon. It just turns off the fans of the original....

Welcome to the Fleets, PlaidSquadron.
If you read the script at Battlestarfanclub.com (did I get that right? I pulled it out of unreliable memory), then you read the script for the mini.
Not BSG, is it?
Anyway, have a great time here. This is a great group of people.
I am
