Re: family emergency
Thank you Jewels.
Yesterday was a bad day for me. I had one of those moments that made me break down and cry. The whole thing was caused by me saying to myself that I should call my sister last night and when it dawned on me that I'll never talk to her again it hurt so badly. We had not been talking for a while up til last fall and my last phone conversation with her was about my semester grades. She had been so proud of me making the Dean's List at the college. She wanted so badly to see me get my degree as she knew that is something our dad would have wanted for us.

You'll have those days and it will hurt.
I lost my dad 5 years ago in April and, to this day, I have "my moments" when I'll think about him and tear up. Like, for instance, right now as I type this message.
The hurt will never go away completely but, as time passes, the open wound will become less "raw".

Re: family emergency
Sweetie, I know just how you must be feeling.
i lost my dad real suddenly and I never really got to tell him I loved him.
I know how it pains, deep down that you feel some kind of misguided guilt even, a remorse, naturally. You can only feel it so that you can get past it one day. I can't say how long it takes for a person to heal from that pain, but what I can say is, with freinds, and family and support, it gets better, if you just keep your beautiful heart open and allow the universe to embrace your spirit too to help you through.
Your sister is happy, be assured, and she woulnd't hold a thing toward you for not calling her before all this happend. She's not angrey in the least. I know, because it's truth.
Think of her on a ship of lights, with everything she needs. And yes, your loved ones that have gone before you, are with her, undoubtedly.
Absolutley.
Be gentle on yourself, and I send my prayers to your sister's family too.
Cry, for it is part of healing from loss.
But also know they don't want you to cry forever. It's fresh right now, but you'll get through.
Have faith, dear.
You need anything, just ask!

Re: family emergency
well, its been over a month since my sister's passing and things are starting to get back to what might be called normal. My sister's family is not speaking to me because I told my mom who had a blasted right to know that my sister was in the condition she was in because of a stupid fight that my sister and my mom had, so now I'm out of the loop.
My mom did tell me that she found out from friend's of ours that had been talking to my sister's family that my sister wanted to donate whatever she could to help someone else but because of her not taking care of herself properly and the damage done from her condition the only thing that was able to be donated was her hair which she donated to Locks of Love to make a wig for a cancer patient. At least with that donation she was able to make someone's life a little more bearable.

Re: family emergency
As if getting over my sister's passing wasn't bad enough and school starting again, I just found out from my older brother that our 85 year old uncle is in the hospital and from what he was told its only a matter of time for him as well.

Re: family emergency
While I realize it's of little comfort, this is something we all face from time to time - and we all get through it.
Also - Families can be stupid.
Thinking about you.

Re: family emergency
Arlene,
I'm sorry to be responding so late to this thread, but as I have not been on the Fleets for a while I was not here to hear of your family emergency. I am deeply sorry to hear of your sister's passing. While I haven't lost any brothers or sisters, I know how it feels to lose a loved one. I lost a cousin who was about 40 years old nine years ago in an explosion. So, as everyone else has already said... You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
Ken

Re: family emergency
Thanks Cylon.
Sorry for my recent absence since I was last here but its been kind of crazy with school. Just letting you know both my hubby and I lost an uncle on the 12th. They had both been having health issues in the last few years.
