Re-release of Galactica models
News was just posted at Starship Modeler that Revel has just signed a license agreement for Galactica. The classic kits are getting gussied up a bit for thier re-releases.
The Viper will now have a cockpit interior with pilot and the rear panel is going to be upgraded.
The Raider is getting new engine vanes.
And the Basestar is getting fancier details.
There will be more announcements later.

That's real cool news.
Now if only they could do a new version of tyhe Galactica! I've seen someone do a conversion of the original kit that's absolutely fantastic looking. They should ask that guy for advice.
Best,
Peter

Found the pics at Starship Builder (a great site) of the Galactica.

Of course they're being re-released. I just bought two Revell Viper kits on eBay for $40 a pop. (insert expletives here.)

Don't feel bad I did the same thing.
I even grabbed two raiders and one was broken into pieces.
Of course I glued it all back together but the two haves don't mate together well.
They both now have twists in them.

Sounds like great candidates to film some exploding Raiders. Get yourself some fireworks.

I did not read the entire thread over there. Way too full of whining.
So does this mean we will get nicely updated Big G's and Basestars?
Does this also mean we get stuff from the new series as well?
One can only hope this is the beginning of new and wonderful experiences with Testors modeling glue!

Over at SSM there is a good thread going.
A few members are remaining tight-lipped about it and seem to have some inside information.
Revel has acquired the BSG rights, if I read it right.
It seems like Revell is going to repop the original line of Galactica models with some upgrades to them.
After that it seems Revell is planning on tooling up some new molds for the new series ships.
Which ships is anyone’s guess and is it going to happen is anyone’s guess.
It's all rumors right now; only thing known for sure is that Revell US has the rights to BSG.

my first model kits
One of the very first models i ever put together was the Galactica. I remember working on it at the dinner table during the commercial breaks. I can't remember how many times i had to "repair" it because I played with it so much. =)

I certainly hope they re-release those models. I'm sick and tired of losing bids on ebay for a Viper!

I'd wait now. But if it turns out they don't, you gotta learn how to snipe your auctions so you win.

The word is the papers have been signed for the original Monogram 1/32 Viper, raider and Base Star with additions....but they may wait to see how the sales go for those kits before the go ahead with a 1/32 scale Viper MK 4, Raptor and a LARGER NEW Battlestar!
Now that would be SWEET!!!!

Where did this word come from, and is there a tentative release date set?
Also will the original Big G be released?

This wasn't supposed to be talked about Troy. Nothing is certain yet.
Maybe we should delete these post if you please. I don't want to get in trouble with the Lords of Styrene.

The Revell flyer announcing the updated kits was posted at Starship Modeler just over a month ago.
